“I haven’t really been to a wedding where I’ve, uh… let loose. But, hey,” Dennis shrugged, “maybe I’m doing it wrong.”
“If I hadn’t already agreed to go to this conference, I’d offer to go with you,” Robby said casually. “Show you how it’s done. I’ve got a good track record as a plus-one, too.” Dennis had to say something. To interrupt. To shut this down. But what was he supposed to say? No, you can’t be my plus one, because I lied about my cousin, and there is no wedding, and it seems a little weird to bring a date to a fucking funeral– “Apparently parents love it when you bring home a doctor.”
And just like that, the bubble popped.
“I’m not gay,” Dennis snapped.
He had never hated the sound of his own voice as much as he did right then.

Or, Dennis is anxiously headed home for a "wedding" in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the details of which are increasingly fuzzy. Robby's got a medical conference in Omaha that same weekend. So they carpool. Seventeen hours both ways in an enclosed space with no way out except a tuck and roll. This'll go great. -

The man looks at someone behind him, some expression he can’t quite figure out. He starts to say something else, and—oh shit he’s gonna throw up fuck—he tries to lean away and not vomit all over anyone else. He doesn't quite make it.
“Shit,” yeah, he definitely ruined that guy’s shoes. Whoops. “Sorry.”

“You were in an accident. Please, listen to me. Get back on the bed.”
Dennis stills at that, giving him that same, blank look from before. Robby wants to shut his eyes. He never wants to see it again.
He tilts his head. “Accident?”
“You were—” Robby says, and doesn’t miss the desperation in his own voice. “I just told you. You were in an accident. Don’t you remember?”After an argument about Robby’s resignation from the Pitt, Dennis gets into a car crash that makes him unable to retain short-term memories. Including the fight they just had, and Robby’s imminent departure. It’s up to Robby to nurse him back to health, and choose which truth to tell him.
Or, Dennis gets anterograde amnesia.

Tim had spent most of his life in foster care, now attending GSU, he just wanted to get through his Bachelors, live quietly with his cat, Todd, and be grateful every day for endless coffee supplied by his coffee shop job.
At least that was the plan till he came home from a late night shift at said coffee shop to one of Gotham's most notorious vigilantes passed out against his door.
Tim chose to blame his lack of survival skills on not being raised in Gotham and pointedly ignored his cat's judgmental gaze when he dragged the unconscious man inside.
Hopefully, the only trigger happy vigilante in Gotham didn't see fit to point the barrel in Tim's direction.

Tim stopped. Time stopped. Everything in the entire fucking universe stopped.
Bruce got up from his chair, looking down on them.
“Are you trying to patch things by pretending to date Jason?” Behind Bruce’s judgemental voice was the barest hint of bemusement.
“I-”
What could he say? Wasn’t that what he was doing? Except he wasn’t, he was also kind of dating Jason for real.

It started when Kon came home one day and found Tim curled up in a ball on their bed crying and after Kon had gotten him to calm down and to talk he found out that Jason had confessed his feelings for Tim and Tim felt terrible about the whole thing.
"I love you, you know that, I would never risk this." Tim told him and Kon did know that and he also knew that Tim and Jason had gotten very close these past years and even further back than that Tim had told Kon once that he had crushed on the second Robin. Those feelings must still be lingering.
Kon knew he couldn't be everything to to Tim, that wasn't practical, so he suggested maybe they could make an arrangement. Tim was shocked to hear it but Kon was always more emotionally competent than him. They just had to find Jason and see if he'd be interesting in sharing, who doesn't love a good poly pile, right?

Jason’s hands uncurled and the tension eased out of his posture, that was the only reason he was going along with this whole thing. He hadn’t had the choice in the first place but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have just disappeared altogether. He was doing this for his mother, he loved his mother. She had been sick for a long time now and was starting to get worse, she needed better treatment that they couldn’t afford and for her, he’d throw away his life.
“Don’t look so depressed, Jason, you’re going to have a better than life than if you stuck around here.” Willis sneered and narrowed his eyes when Jason glared at him. “Just remember, if you mess this up you will be killing your mother. So just this once, don’t fuck it up Jason.” He said before leaving his son alone with his thoughts.
