Techno's familiar was a raccoon. It was unusual and no one would envy Techno for having Theseus, but Techno adored him. He was more than content to have the adorable animal as his familiar instead of some over powered demon, but... well... Theseus might not be all he appears to be.
(That won't stop Techno from adoring him and it won't stop Theseus from being a menace, but it does bring about change. Hopefully this will be good for them...)

The rattling of bones and the sick stink of rotting flesh overwhelms his senses as the mobs approaching him grow closer and closer by the second, his legs are twisted and bloodied beneath him. He cannot run away.

Somewhere in the distance, Techno hears a scream.
Or
An AU where Tommy runs away in the middle of his exile and gets badly hurt along the way. Techno finds him and does his best to nurse his stubborn brother back to health, while also struggling to uncovering just what has happened to him. Had Tommy shown up on his doorstep begging for help, Techno would have laughed and slammed the door in his face.
Techno does not look kindly upon those who only come to him when they need something from him. In the past, despite their alliances, Tommy has consistently chosen government over Techno. Let him crawl back to his government for help. Oh, they exiled him? Should have seen that betrayal coming, Tommy, Technoblade told you so.
Instead, Tommy shows up under his floorboards, hiding away like an animal, succumbing to the cold. Technoblade is a lot of things. Bitter, resentful, violent. But he's not the kind of man who, due to negligence, lets children freeze to death under his roof.
(Basically a Techno-centric recovery fic where Techno RELUCTANTLY takes care of a post-exile Tommy. Dream has other plans.)

Tommy stumbled through the snow, ears ringing and body aching. He hadn't expected Dream to be that mad. He definitely wasn't expecting Dream to blow everything up. Right now all he expected and wanted to do was go steal all of his older brother's shit and maybe find a way to get back home along the way.
What he didn't expect was to wake up frozen in the tundra without his hearing. What Techno didn't expect was to suddenly be dealing with his deaf younger brother who refused to tell him anything about what happened to him.

L’Manberg was gone. Tommy had nothing left. He lost his relationship with Technoblade. Wilbur was dead, Phil viewed him as a traitor. Tubbo and him were strained, to say the least.
And he’s tired. God, he’s so tired, and all he wants to do is rest, finally be free of all the burdens he carried constantly.
The weight of the world is a lot to put on a 16-year-olds shoulders.
