Cannon complacent up until 13x20.
After the rifts opened up across the country, hunters have been scrambling for months trying to close them, with little luck. Sam and Dean have their hands full already, but when Donna calls about a potential case at a couple’s retreat, the Winchester’s have little choice but to drop everything and help. Would have been nice for Donna to say that it was a GAY couple’s retreat, but it’s a bit too late to back out once they pull up. And of course Sam would draw the short straw and get the shortest depowered angel as his “spouse.” Sam never did feel lucky, but at least it meant a week away from Dean’s bitching.
(Set in May/June of 2019 cuz who knows what’s gonna happen next season, not me.) mentions of previous rape but no rape scenes

Summary

Leaving their precarious and somewhat confusing past behind has been the best decision they ever made - that is, until the local mafia sets their sights on them. In order to protect Sam, Dean allows himself to be recruited into Castiel Krushnic's unconventional mob. There's something strange about the boss, though. Dean can't quite put his finger on it.
That doesn't make him want to punch him in the face any less.
Men are going missing throughout the city, and Castiel swears he'll get to the bottom of it. Dean, blackmailed into loyalty, has no choice but to follow Castiel on the ensuing chaotic journey to save innocent civilians.
For the record, Dean still wants to punch the asshole in the face. But hey, he'll do his best to save the world, first.

Years later, he's settled- well, found an alley- in Wyoming. The next thing he knows, he's been hired at the local veterinarian's office, then at the Novak ranch. It'd be easier, of course, to keep his head down and do his job if the ranch owner, Castiel, wasn't so gorgeous.
Life's been a struggle to live day to day for Castiel since the day that he lost his wife and daughter in a tragic accident. He never expected to fall for the gorgeous man that he'd hired. Dean reads him in a way that his wife had never managed and it's terrifying.
As the local Veterinarian, Gabriel Novak was a damn busy man- He's lonely, and it's worse as he watches his brother definitely not stare or flirt with the new hand. Fed up with it, he signed up for a dating app only to put in the Stanford ZIP instead of his own.
Sam is shocked when he meets an amazing man- the only problem? He lives in Wyoming. It's completely worth the trip to see him, though- especially when he finds the brother who he thought was dead working for his new boyfriend!
