An emergency landing has stranded us on an unknown Affini vessel, and we were pleasantly surprised to have our landing go uncontested. The crew have begun exploring the seemingly abandoned ship and prepare to settle in for what the engineers report will be a lengthy repair.
The munitions crate remains missing, and is top priority in our search.
Lt. Thomas puts down her logbook and gazes out into the expanse of the Affini ship's wilderness, wondering if they are truly alone.

Holly Clarke is a free Terran, a member of the TCN's elite Lioness program, trained to fight the alien weeds no matter the cost. All her weaknesses are supposed to be gone, purged by the training designed to make her into the perfect weapon. She doesn't need friends, or love, or anything else the Affini might use to corrupt her. It will all be worth it if she can just fight hard enough.
Cypress Amaranthia, First Bloom, is a xenosophont intake manager on an Affini rescue ship. She's happy to help hook other Affini up with pets, even though she hasn't taken any on herself. This is how she can help the most people, which is far more important than any personal issues she might be dealing with. She doesn't need to address the aching emptiness in her own life if she's bringing happiness to others.
When she decides that Holly is one of the people she needs to bring happiness to, things get complicated fast.

Jasmine, an anxious trans woman on a planet recently conquered by the affini, seeks escape to Accord-controlled space, and finds it in the form of a ship of brazen, accord-associated smugglers called the Bridge Over Rubicon. As the fall of Terra grows more and more inevitable, this ship of smugglers deteriorates mechanically into ruin and socially into fascism, causing Jasmine to turn back to the Compact despite the fear she holds for the affini.
