5 Times Merlin disguised himself. And 1 time he stops hiding
Alternatively:
When Gwaine finds out about Merlin’s magic, he convinces Merlin to use it for funs sake.
He learned of the Dolma and Dragoon and immediately makes Merlin come up with new diguises.
And he does it, so Merlin can hear how Arthur talks about Merlin behind his back.
Which is surprisingly positive. And partly embarrassing, but Arthur doesn’t even notice how obviously he’s pining.
Merlin, however, sees it for the first time from the eyes of a maid, a knight, a royal, a stable boy, a barkeeper etc.
Surprisingly enough, Gwaine doesn’t even ask Merlin to prank Arthur. He just makes him listen.
And that’s how bitter and depressed season 5 Merlin gets healed from his paranoia and self depreciation.

He'd agreed the knight's obviously sometimes let him win in tournaments for fear of injuring the Prince of Camelot, but to lie to everyone, help Arthur participate in the jousting tournament in secret, and give up his bed for the prat?
Merlin wondered when he stopped being able to say no to his prince.

Summary
It started after the death of Uther, the possessiveness.
Maybe it’d always been there to some degree. Merlin blamed it on their destiny, the unbreakable umbilical cord that tied them together even when they physically existed on opposite ends of the kingdom.
After Uther’s death, though, the cord tightened on Arthur’s end and Merlin went willingly.

Summary
Everything could be perfect. The war is over, Voldemort is dead and Harry returns for an additonal eigthth year to Hogwarts, with all of his friends. Finally, a year in which he can relax.
Right? Well, no, because apparently, during his ordeal with the Vanishing Cabinet in sixth year, Draco Malfoy found a way to cross into a different universe. A universe where Harry never was the Chosen One, where he is being raised by Sirius and Remus, where he has been sorted into Slytherin ... and oh, is also married to Draco Malfoy since they both turned seventeen. If that's not strange enough, Harry learns that with Voldemort's soul gone, his own soul is in great danger and Draco Malfoy is the only thing that keeps him safe. Together, they swap places with their counterparts from the other universe to find a solution for Harry's problem. While also pretending to be married. Which is fine, really, but why one earth is Malfoy so different than Harry had ever imagined him to be? Only for Red Hood to up it by saying instead of one-vs-one it should be mentor vs all their proteges at once. God dammit Oliver for being easy to provoke.
Now not only does Bruce have to somehow explain why he's not only sparring with Red Robin and Robin, but seven (eight if you count Oracle) vigilantes against him. Three of which he was certain weren't in the Tower an hour ago.
Oh well. That's for future Batman to deal with.
