When Jayce first met Viktor years and years ago—cloak billowing, staff outstretched, the runes of the Arcane twisting around him—he thought he was an angel. He was still an angel, the way the corner of his mouth twitched into a smile—the way he glowed from the core with iridescent hues.
Jayce was a scientist. He never cared for religion, but when he looked into Viktor’s eyes, he understood why people went to war for the gods.

Jayce and Viktor traverse a thousand endless universes and live a thousand lives in search of home. No amount of knowledge or expertise would have ever prepared them for the cost.
