Like a ripple in a pond, Soap’s appearance as his teammate shattered Ghost’s precious silence, replacing it with boisterous noise. The young sergeant was full of life and brightness and everything that Ghost was not.
Fortunately, he only had to endure Soap’s nonsense for a short while before he could return to what he knew best. He'd always worked better alone, after all.
Only, Ghost doesn’t realize how oppressive silence could be until after Soap’s symphony of noise is taken away.

Ghost starts to grow fond of the new sergeant, and begins realizing how hollow and quiet his life had been before meeting Soap.

"Don't move." The boy said, his face covered by mild terror and heart beating so loudly that Osamu could hear it.
"Then, talk to me." The brunet challenged in turn, as he stared Atsushi right in the eyes, seeing the boy cave in, as he looked at the IV connected to his veins, trying not to break it again.
"What do you want to talk about?" Atsushi asked in turn, with an angry expression.
"Whatever it is that is bothering you." The brunet stated in turn, as he relaxed.
"Nothing is." Atsushi lied through his teeth, looked him in the eyes and lied.
He couldn't have that.
"Are you disappointed in me?" The brunet asked, hitting a nerve seemingly, as the boy's eyes flashed.
"No." He didn't sound like he was lying per say.
"Then, what is it?" Dazai asked, a bit confused, puzzled by the boy's expression.
He seemed to be mourning. But nobody died.
Atsushi looked at him, to his nonexistent wounds that Yosano long since has healed, to the floor and then back at him, in a span of a minute that felt like hours as the silence haunted them both.
"I thought you were dead."

Contains a ton of fluff, because I thrive off it. This is not romantic it is just cute fluff between a mentor and mentee who care about each other deeply. I want Atsushi to be spoiled and loved and I've decided that Dazai is going to do that, lol.
*This takes place during the beginning of season 3, I have not read the manga whatsoever, so if somethings inaccurate it is just for this story; please don't hold it against me. I also don't plan on following the anime. So while this takes place at the beginning of season 3, it will not build up into season 3. It's a standalone story; separate from the show.*
