Wilbur frowns, but it's Techno who steps forward. "Tommy, he's not going to do anything," Techno tells him cautiously. "You don't need to worry, alright?"
To you, Tommy would say, if he was stronger. He's not going to do anything to you.
But he doesn't. Tommy keeps his mouth shut—whatever it takes to stay.
When Techno and Wilbur Soot-Watson anger a bully, it shouldn't be an issue. They are as untouchable as they can get, for students anyway.
It's unfortunate that Tommy, their foster brother, isn't. Being their soft spot, it only makes sense that he becomes the next target.

Techno's eyes travel from Tommy's head to his toes, recognition didn't flit across his face like Tommy had anticipated. Nine years did change a person a great deal. Techno, who had only been fourteen the last time Tommy had seen him, was now a grown man, well muscled, all traces of boyishness gone from his body. Though he was still recognizably Techno. Tommy on the other hand had been six. A runt with bright eyes and a firy personality. Tommy wondered if the years had rendered him too changed for his brother to know him.
Then it happened. Tommy saw the instant Techno put the pieces together. He stood up in a rush, his book falling to the floor in a heap, while his beer sloshed around in its bottle.
"Tommy?"

Tommy winds up at Techno's doorstep after nine years of separation. He'd found him online via article. Apparently Tommy's brother was a semi famous bullrider. Tommy didn't care about that though, he just needed somewhere to stay. A cabin out in the middle of Texas would just have to do.

Now, if you’ve been living under a rock for five years and have no idea who this is, the Blade is one of the three leaders of the supervillain group, the Syndicate. His powers include super strength, enhanced hearing, and an unnamed yet feared ability of knowing things he shouldn’t. This Tommy knows. This Tommy understands.
What he doesn’t understand is why the Blade is dying in his alley—Oh.
The Blade is dying.

Tommy blinks faster at tears. He opens his mouth but his breath hitches. He just needs to say something, anything.
Let out something and keep going. They'll know his voice, they'll know the second he speaks. He just needs to do it.
The knife is raised and Tommy shuts his eyes and pulls all the strength in him into this one act.
"WILBY WAIT!!" He manages to scream, his voice echoes off the walls of the warehouse and it's silent. A beat or two passes and Tommy opens his eyes to see the end of the blade only an inch from his face. Basically stroking his eye.
It's pulled away quickly and the trio look stunned into silence.

Summary
A young vigilante, one that Techno recognized to be Icarus, was curled up against the wall in a pool of his own blood. The thick red liquid poured out from a gash on the vigilante’s chest. Icarus looked like he was on the brink of death.
Techno knew he should arrest Icarus. That was part of his job afterall, to catch vigilantes.
But part of him- most of him- didn’t want to.
Techno couldn’t help but feel sorry for the young vigilante. Not only was he most likely going to die here if he didn’t get help soon, but the one person that found him was someone who was technically legally obligated to arrest him.
Just as Techno took a few careful steps towards him, Icarus’s head snapped up, wide blue eyes, surrounded by a light red mask, meeting Techno’s blood red eyes and pig-like skull mask.
“Pl-Please don’t kill me.” Icarus choked out, coughing up blood before speaking again. “I-I don’t w-wanna die.”

Techno, a famous superhero, illegally heals a vigilante named Icarus. The two become friends.
Techno didn’t predict that this new friendship would lead to him fixing his other friendships with Wilbur and Phil.
And also having to repair three broken windows in only two weeks.

Then another man is bounding over. Tall, skinny, just like Tommy, except a little bit taller. Brown curls pile upon his head and over his forehead. Tommy can see a strong nose, and a strong chin, and everything clicks as the man leans into Techno’s space and starts excitedly showing him the contents of a brown bakery bag.
“Oh my god! This is perfect!” Tommy exclaims, drawing the attention of the new, cooler man. Cooler because Tommy actually looks like this guy, a little bit, despite the man’s brown eyes and rounded glasses resting upon his nose.
“Excuse me,” Tommy says eagerly, practically bouncing on his feet. “Will you be my pretend-brother?”

After getting into trouble at school, Tommy has to take his brother, Phil, to Parent's Night—except Phil is always working, and always exhausted, and Tommy doesn't want to burden him...
He'll just have to find a different brother for Parent's Night instead.

Out of his hero-gear, Techno should look just as intimidating as when he’s in it. He’s still absolutely massive, built in such a way that he could crush someone’s skull with just one hand. The absence of a mask means nothing, either, not when it gives direct access to stoic eyes, or the scars and battle wounds that nick at Techno’s jaw and stretch down the side of his nose.
Besides. Techno doesn’t need his costume to demand the obedience of the darkness.
Still. Still.
Tommy can’t be scared—not of this. Not when Techno’s hands are occupied with takeout bags, or when he’s wearing glasses low against his nose, or when his eyes meet Tommy’s and the corners of his mouth lift slightly. “Got takeout.”

Tommy is living a double life: at home, he spends time with his...mentor? Techno. At night, he goes out as the vigilante Flare.
It would be a lot easier if Techno wasn't the hero hunting him down. Oh—and if Techno didn't absolutely hate Flare.
But Tommy is determined to keep up the lie. He'll be fine! Right?

Tommy wasn’t really the type to get caught up in drama at school. He flew under the radar for the most part, most people only knowing him as him as Wilbur and Techno’s golden haired, slightly annoying, but lovable, freshman brother. Wilbur being the leading man in their well loved theatre department, and Techno, co-captain of the football team, had given him a leg up when he had entered high school his freshman year.
But that was deteriorating quickly, as allegations spread quickly, and the blood drained from Tommy’s face as his older brother angrily confronted him about it.

Tommy's friends and brothers turn against him and start treating him like hes a bad person due to a misunderstanding, and he just feels so alone.

So he avoids his family like the plague and hopes there won’t be any more interactions with them in the field.

or, SBI are actors on a sitcom, and of course, they play a happy family- unfortunately for Tommy, the lines between fact and fiction are easily blurred and hard to define.
