Summary
A visionary architect during her mortal life, the Steward feared death. Marius snorts into his drink. He glances derisively over at Leon’s unreadable face.
“Would you look at that,” Marius says blandly. “The Envoy’s got jokes.”
Beneath that woody, mask-like growth, Leon frowns.
“I wasn’t joking,” he protests.
“Pe dracu,” Marius scoffs, “Coming from a blind kith? It is.”
“I don’t need eyes to know that,” Leon insists.
Traveling with the imperial envoy has reminded Marius to expect the unexpected. Perhaps it should not have come as a surprise to him, then, that the one person who can see straight through him is someone who cannot see at all.

Summary
