From Darkseid's brainwashing and the Mobius chair's torture, Batman is split from Bruce Wayne. Batman is loyal and in love with his master's grand vision for Apokolips. Bruce Wayne retains his identity— his humanity— and intends to regain control.
To ensure loyalty to Darkseid, Batman is given his first mission: destroy what’s left of Bruce Wayne.
This is no easy task; there isn’t much left to destroy. The only thing left he can grasp at Wayne would very much like to destroy himself.

He finally got it. Even if Saja Boys failed to break the Hunmoon, their little act led to Gwi-Ma being fed the most souls he had in ages. They passed the proof of concept. He could feel the other band members finally looking up.
