'Bruce was only watching to see how Clark’s sparring was coming along... He wasn’t watching Clark because he liked him or found him attractive. That would be foolish, and not sensible at all, and a distraction from the more important things in life, like beating up criminals every night and passing his exams.'
When Clark Kent gets into yet another fight on a night out, his friend Diana suggests he joins the university boxing club to get used to fighting back, without killing someone with his superpowers. Bruce Wayne has just transferred to Metropolis City University and isn’t all too happy about it. Unlike everyone else he knows, he misses Gotham. And now he has to balance university, being Batman, and his feelings for Clark Kent - which he definitely doesn’t have.
CONTENT WARNINGS: a little bit of swearing, implied abuse, implied & described mild violence, lots of discussion of dead parents.
This is an AU drawing on several different versions of characters and also my own interpretation of them. Bruce is Battinson, Clark is Corensupes & Smallville. The others are a mix of all media types and kind of just what I want them to be! -

After a while, the boy looked up at Grian, “Why are you guys- Why are you so fuckin’ nice? I’ve been here for like half an hour, and no one has gotten angry at me for being a dick, that Xisuma bitch saved my life, and helped me calm down after a freakout- What the fuck? I don’t understand!” He cried, and Grian just let him talk. It hurt to hear, and made him wonder who hurt this kid.
His avian instincts weren’t helping either, it was not the time to be trying to take in an abandoned fledgling. It also did not help that between the ugly sobs the kid was making, he could hear the repressed chirps that struggled to pass through whatever barrier this kid had put up to stop any bird-like sounds.~

His gaze only shifted when his helmet was roughly grabbed, forced to look in the hero’s direction. They made eye contact for several seconds (if you count looking at two dots on a mask as eye contact), with Blade’s mouth open slightly in shock. Ranboo tried to stop himself from crying, but from the way his vision began to blur he could tell he wasn’t winning that fight. The silence surrounding them both was deafening, and Ranboo hated it more than anything.
Finally, the man who held his fate in his hands spoke.
“You’re… just a kid.”

Since then, Tommy had developed a bad habit of taking pity on the cats. It had escalated to the point where he now had a litter box and feeding station for the cats that came by. He usually left the fire escape window open and now the four cats that had climbed in were staring at him curiously as he put down the cat he’d carried here. Slowly, he unwrapped his jacket from the cat. He wasn’t sure how the cat would react to him. Usually kidnapping a cat after only just meeting was a horrible idea, but Tommy hadn’t had a choice unless he wanted to let the cat get soaked.
Or,
Tommy is just an orphan trying to get by on his own while keeping his wings a secret. He never expected to catch the attention of three grown men with a tendency to adopt strays that almost rivals his own. At least his was cats and not random street kids. -

Okay, so maybe vigilantes were illegal heroes, but were they really so bad? Tommy didn't think so, but maybe that's because he, himself, was one. Even so, seemed like the top hero agency didn't quite agree with him. Great. As if life wasn't hard enough.
Or
TommyInnit is a vigilante while Wilbur, Technoblade, and Philza are the heroes supposed to take him down. Things don't go quite as planned.

Summary
Techno escaped from prison, it was to be expected of course. Nothing could really hold the blade forever. Yet the toll of the escape is something that he will have to pay, in injuries in fighting the elder guardian and mental scars of being revived time after time to fight the monster that kept him trapped.
When he finally does escape his injuries catch up to him, he was going to be caught by the guards. That is until he is saved, his injuries treated, and hidden away from the powers that want him back in prison. It's none other than Tommy Innit, even after siding with Dream, helping the man escape prison, and a lifetime of denying him access into his, Phil's, and Wilbur's family, Tommy still saves him.
Tommy's feeling very left behind by his friends, and isolated to the closet thing that he has of a family. When he finds his pseudo brother dying and on run right after finding out his abuser escaped, he helps. He wants peace but he can never find it, and he certainly won't have it once Dream's back up to full strength so why not help Techno?

Tommy is a foster kid who's been bouncing between homes for as long as he's been in the system. When his last home ends with a hospital stay and a court case, Tommy's left with one more house in his county before threats of being transferred out of state and never seeing his friends again.
Jaded, bruised, and angry, Tommy has to weigh the risks of an unknown house with his need to stay in the only place he's ever known consistency.
