It didn’t sit right with George that Dream would be punished because of something he had done. What would be the harm, anyway, if they let people believe it?
"If it will get you that much shit, then just don't tell them,” he said. “Things blow over eventually, right?"
Dream cocked his head to the side. "What do you mean, not tell them? They think we're together - this is not something I can push under the rug.”
George gestured aimlessly with his hand. It made perfect sense to him. "Why not? I mean, people do it all the time. No comment. Plausible deniability."Or: George goes partying, sleeps with a guy named Clay, and takes an adorable selfie with his cat that kinda breaks the internet. A few days later, Dream enters the picture.

Summary
“C-Can you—” George stutters. His mind races a mile a minute, he can’t think straight, not with Dream looking at him like that. His face burns a hundred degrees hotter than it should be and he looks away from his intense, worried stare, instead of George eyes the spot of brown on the table. “Can you teach me how to kiss?” He blurts out.
There’s a heavy-weighted, stretched silence that sinks between them and the only thing George hears is the blood rushing through his ears accompanied by the faint chatter of customers and hissing of coffee machines.
“Are— Are you serious?” Dream looks shocked and slightly bewildered like he doesn’t completely believe the brunet is asking for a serious question.
or; George asks Dream to teach him how to kiss to impress Sapnap. Things escalate a little.
And by a little maybe a too much.

“It doesn't have to mean anything," Dream says, hoping the tone of his voice doesn't betray his hesitance. "We can pretend nothing happened, that’s fine by me.
Everything hangs so loosely in the air, unanswered and fragile. Depleting oxygen pulls tightly at his lungs, making them beg for something, anything. Nothing makes sense.
“Please don’t ask me to do that,” George says, so softly that it almost doesn't feel real.
“What?”
“I can’t pretend nothing happened.” And then, he laughs, the kind that sounds more like a breath of relief, or like he's making fun of himself. “God, I can’t stop thinking about you.”
Or, who thought an existential crisis could ever lead to love? Dream certainly didn’t.

“Dream.” George scoffs at the absurd name and sneaks a glance at Dream, taking in his facial features. He doesn't look bad, George will give him that.

At this point, George decides they have two options: they can sit around and wallow in their collective disappointment until Sapnap gets back, allowing their special day to pass by with nothing more than a miserable acknowledgement of what could have been, or he can take matters into his own hands and give Dream the best anniversary he can possibly imagine.

“It’s not—I don’t think it’s stupid.” George sighs, his brow furrowing. “I just—I don’t know. People still don’t shut up about the stupid cheating thing, wouldn’t you just be giving them more to complain about?”

Balmy nights in Florida didn’t matter that much when Dream kept the house at near-freezing temperature. It was always an uncomfortable reminder when George stepped outside and found the bright sun beaming down on him instead of the mellow warmth he was used to in London. Yet he still found himself appreciating it more and more the longer he was there.

It makes sense for them, as in denial of it all as they are. It starts as a lingering hug in the doorway of their home, the first time experiencing citrus and something distinctly Dream that sticks to his skin.
Then it’s fleeting touches whenever they’re in reach of each other, across the small of his back or his sides. It’s hands never committing to grasping his properly, sharp green tracing their imprint on his. It’s large hands finding his elbows to drag him under the same blanket on movie nights.
George is a bit overwhelmed about it all at first, really.

The tale of the beast started like this: deep in the forest, between sharp peaks and serpentine valleys with rivers that glittered like the most precious diamonds, there was a castle cloaked by ancient magic. Nobody could recall anything about its master or if there had ever been one, but everyone knew about the thing that prowled inside its walls like a caged beast.
Some said he had once been a man, cursed to be unrecognizable by his kind, alone and trapped forever. Some that he had sold his soul to demons and became one in return. Others said that such evil could have never been human in the first place, that the beast was instead a nightmare, left behind a long time ago to haunt the earth. The only thing they all had in common was this: there was something in the castle trapped by magic, and that was more than enough reason for the townsfolk to keep away.
Magic was, after all, not to be trifled with.
