Tommy had watched the man enter from his room upstairs, looking out the window in curiosity. He could hear other children all screaming loudly about the fact someone clearly rich showed up at their little orphanage.
Tommy decided not to get his hopes up. No one wanted him anyway. No one wanted a hybrid. The other kids made sure the 6-year-old bunny knew that. So, Tommy stayed in his room, ears perked and eavesdropping on the kids outside. He couldn’t hear the man or Miss Sandra, but he knew they had entered the office.
He’d probably hear about the lucky child from the other screaming children.
Currently, they were whispering about how that man fit the description of the old Gothic mansion’s owner. It was a bit of a local legend, sitting just on the outskirts of town. The man that lived inside was a hermit, a large fence surrounding the whole perimeter to avoid trespassers. The man himself typically only came out at night, avoiding the daylight like a plague.
His gothic style choices certainly added to the legend that the man was secretly a vampire.
Or, Vampire (?) Wilbur adopts hybrid Tommy. Tommy believes he is only there to be a blood bag.

Wilbur was upset. He smelled angel blood in his territory. Which meant two things. 1: There was an angel in his territory. And 2: There was something that killed an angel in his territory.
Wilbur huffed, crawling along the ground, low and hidden in the shadows, before coming to the massacre. The angel was, well… everywhere. And there were two other demons feasting on the remains.
Wilbur’s pupils narrowed, tail glimmering in the moonlight before he pounced. The barb on his tail pierced through one of the demon's chest, teeth sinking into the other simultaneously. The demons let out loud screeches, Wilbur only hissing violently in return. Venom seeped from his mouth, injecting into the demon's veins. He ripped his tail back through the demon’s chest, claws extending to rip it apart.
Or, Wilbur finds a baby angel. The forbidden chicken nugget. He almost wants to eat it, but of course the baby made a couple baby sounds and it was joever for him. Now he’s gotta protect his baby (even from his family at times) (it’s mostly fluff I promise)

Wilbur nods, keeps smiling until Phil leaves. Only then does he drop his backpack and duffel bag on the floor, take a shuddering breath and will himself to keep it together.
This is temporary.
His parents aren’t abusers, they’re lovely people with good jobs and good connections. They’ll go to trial and everyone will find out that Wilbur is just being dramatic and then he’ll go home to a house that is made to look warm when it is really just cold.
Or, Wilbur has recently been moved to a temporary foster house due to his parents upcoming trial and learns what it truly means to be loved.

He was just a child, woken up a few months ago with feelings and instincts that were too overwhelming. His underdeveloped gills and fins ached going too deep into the lagoon he was trapped in. The laboratory men said they could help him, but his instincts screamed to run away, to escape.
Then one day, the opportunity presented itself.

He took his hoodie off, prying the mask from his face and he froze.
Tommy could see how the man’s eyes widened, something like panic in his expression.
But he didn’t care about that, he couldn’t breathe, the boss had told him to keep his piglin features hidden, that he was an advantage the heroes couldn’t know of, and now his pointy ears and the tusks that barely poked through his lips were now in the open for everyone to see.
For the heroes to know.
Even if he escaped now, the heroes would find out who he is, after all, there were only so many piglin hybrids in the records.
