"So why did you leave? hm? Is it because we haven't?—" The spawn stopped himself gritting his teeth.
"His advice on flowers." You deadpan, carefully, you start to open the box that you had both been glancing at periodically. As the box falls open it reveals a plant of Epiphyllum Oxypetalum, and a daylight spell which you quickly dismissed. And as the light slowly faded, the flower started to bloom. Its leaves open as though they were made of the finest silk. This display left Astarion silent. He quietly took in the obscure looking flower. "A month ago...you were dramatically complaining about how you haven't seen flowers bloom in centuries and how even now you never have the time." A bitter tone sneaked deep into your words. His mouth parted as he looked at you. "Yes, I left camp with Halsin without telling you. I could have and should have given a better excuse. Or one at all. I just thought you'd, well, you'd spot any lie as quickly as I said it, so I opted for this which I now see was a mistake."
Not a word left his mouth as though all witty and snarky remarks were caught in his throat, then the guilt started to swell.
