Will, a teenager in his third year learning to be a Ranger, is starting to perfect his skills with the longbow, tracking, unseen movement, horsemanship and all the other skills he will need to join the Ranger Corps and protect the Fief from the King's enemies and brigands. In my story, though, he has to contend with a bit of life going sideways when he gets a fever and goes blind. How will he realize his dream of becoming a King's Ranger if he can no longer see?

Techno slammed his fists against the transparent wall of his prison, trying his best to break it down. His captors backed up, whistling anxiously to each other.
He gave the barrier another loud crack, delightedly watching as they scrambled away in abject terror.
Nodding in satisfaction, he turned around to meet the eyes of two other prisoners that had been thrown into his cell.
He froze.
Right.
There were now aliens in his cell.
And he probably just scared the hell out of them.
Or: Humans are a dangerous race feared by all on an intergalactic scale. Techno, a human ex-soldier that was abducted by aliens 18 months ago, is biding his time in captivity.
This changes when two young aliens are sent into his cell to die.

Hallucination, right? Has to be. But then Stoick pressed his axe close enough to graze the bottom of Hiccups chin and nope, nope, not a hallucination. “I— I don’t understand.”
“Did the dragon get you? Have you seen it?”
“Dragon,” Hiccup repeated numbly. Dragon. He knew that word. Definitely knew it. It sure sounded familiar. “Dr—Dragon! The dragon. Right, um, yes, right, uh— Yellow scales, four wings… that dragon?”
“Are there other dragons about?” It wasn’t a rhetorical or teasing question, but a man asking how many enemies were around him.
“No, uh. No. I just… I saw it crash into the ground and— wait, you crashed with it?” Hiccup suddenly realized. “What were you doing with that dragon?!”
Stoick leaned back from Hiccup just long enough to raise his axe. “What do you think I was trying to do, boy?”

Summary
Alien’s were oblivious things.
Scoring a job with the Astral All Hands Company was scarily easy. After stealing a communion device, clothes to hide himself and threatening low life alien criminals into making him fake ID’s Techno was all set. No one asked twice about the fake planet that was listed on his ID or why they haven’t heard of it.
With all this in mind, Techno concludes that aliens are oblivious. It has to be in their nature to write things off because there’s so many species around, coming and going. The SBI crew was like everyone else in that regard. The second he stepped foot on their ship they acted as if he was always there. Like he was something dancing in the background having finally come to life.
But of course now that he’s living with them it’s hard to keep them oblivious. To keep them away from the truth. But he tries, even if it slowly becomes useless.
Or: The four times Techno keeps his human heritage a secret and the one time he learns what it really means to be human.

Phil huffs a laugh, pulling his backpack off and hanging it next to the door. “Its funny seeing you here as well, considering I live here. Why are you sitting ominously in my house, mate?”

It means that out of everyone likely to recognize him, Protesilaus is at the top of the list.
Or: Phil is undercover. He expects his nemesis to give him up as soon as he's recognized. When he doesn't, Phil is...intrigued.
