Summary
There are many things, it seems, that Arthur never told him. About his hopes. His fears. About how heavily the weight of the gang crushed down on his shoulders. About the bright moments he found out there in the wilds, helping and befriending random strangers just because he could. The strange phenomena he saw and dutifully noted in his journal, then never spoke of again. There is so much, John realises, that he never knew about his brother, because he never asked.
But really, out of all the mysteries in Arthur’s life, this one seems like a pretty big deal to not goddamn mention.

"Hey, brother, it's Sixer!" Came a cheery, tiny voice from the other line and the already struggling heart in his chest stuttered for a few beats as his mouth dried.
There were only a handful of people in the world who knew that childhood nickname, and only one with that voice, however different it sounded over the phone, but there was no doubt in Stan's mind.
"Ford?"

What if Bill's call to Stanley while possessing Ford's body actually went through and Stan has to race to Gravity Falls to find out if brother was dead or alive?

He doesn’t know what he expected when he got here—a phone call, some scrap of familiarity—but instead, there’s only that dark, uninviting door, barely visible against the relentless white. His fingers tremble slightly as he shifts his grip, the leather cold and unforgiving against his skin. The silence feels alive, pressing against him, whispering to him that he could just turn the key, drive away, leave it all behind.

Summary
Stan didn’t know what he expected. Just a larger version of the kid he had known in high school, really. Sure they were identical, but Stan hadn’t been the person who looked like his brother in a long time. New scars, constant stubble, greasy mullet, dirty clothes, couple new teeth…He wasn’t exactly his best self. Ford seemed to be doing just fine, last he heard, what with his fancy house up in the Pacific Northwest wilderness, so he had assumed that he would be more…stable.
He noted his shaking hands, the relentless pacing he had picked up, back and forth through the room like a caged animal. He took in the unshaved face, the sunken eyes with dark shadows so deep they may as well be bruises. He looked pale and skinny, like he hadn’t been eating enough. Still, Ford stared ahead, hands clutching a book he had picked up during his rambles, eyes flicking back and forth like he was reading the blank air.
What was this guy so afraid of way out here?
In which there's slightly more communication when Stan first comes to Gravity Falls, and it makes all the difference.

Six months after the Krang invaded the turtles are trying to recover from both the physical and mental trauma they had to go through. Each brother has their own obstacle to overcome. As he pulls further and further away from his brothers trying to make amends for his past mistakes, he finds his world tipped upside down once again when someone shows up asking for help. It might be inconvenient, but it might wind up being exactly what Leo needs.

He'd huddled next to the radiator in the middle of the winter, taken a steaming shower in April's bathroom, and on more than one late movie night he'd slept under a thick pile of brothers and blankets until he woke up too hot and sweatily wriggled himself free. He'd never sat out under the bright morning sun, though, and he'd never felt warm like this.
