Summary
It’s been hectic recently. Enjin’s changed his schedule approximately 20 times in the past four months; as soon as he gets used to having to wake up at four a am for a shift, it miraculously changes to eight p.m., over and over again.
He honestly doesn’t really care about it for himself; Jabber’s a resilient boy, he’s spent most of his life homeless, sleeping like a narcolept randomly in any safe place he could find. No, it's not a problem for him, but Enjin is also making it so he and Zanka have different schedules. Zanka has had the same schedule for basically her entire life, and now it's changing like, every week, and he can tell it's kinda tearing her apart. She thrives on clear instruction and things being the same; this feels like some kind of medieval torture for her.
Is that a sign of some disorder? Probably.
Does he care? No, that’s his wife, thank you very much. He would kill several battalions for her; he does not mind fixing whatever's wrong with her father.
Or, a late-night conversation over everything and nothing.

It cries out, a screech that hurts her ears. She looks at it, tattered clothes, dark skin, feathers, wings-
And eyes. Golden as they flare open at her, beautiful, and hers.
It revs back up for another attack, and Avery was just going to either kill it or maim it so that it wouldn't be a danger anymore, but-
The woman pushes its feet- whoa, she doesn't think she's seen Derek's feet before- against the tree trunk, using the force to attempt to tackle Avery, black claws out. Avery wonders if they're larger than normal, the hard black material glinting slightly, but she thinks this might just be a trick of the mind now that they're attempting to claw into her skin.
A slash catches her arm, which causes her to hiss before a sharp intake of breath, snatching Derlord's wrist in a moment's notice, eyes searching over her quickly, not frantically, before using her other hand to take her other wrist, all the while Derlord writhes in her grasp. She moves both of Der's hands into one of hers, holding them above her head slightly as Der attempts to lunge and bite her.
Or, non-freaky version on omegaverse. Derlord forgets how to be human; Avery saves her.

“Fuck,” Zanka hisses, nail caught between his teeth. He scoffs. “Just like a fucking cat.”
Jabber smiles, straddling Zanka’s hips. “Want me to meow for you?”
His jaw tightens. For some reason, the look on Jabber’s face makes Zanka think he’s being serious this time. Dude. The growing pain in his head throbs. He shouldn’t be thinking about Jabber like this. He shouldn’t be here with him, period— and yet, still, here he is—
Jabber wants to play. Zanka just wants to go to bed.
(Alternatively: on an impromptu visit to the Cleaners’ Headquarters, Jabber discovers he really, really, likes Zanka’s teeth. Zanka should be disgusted, but much to his dismay, he isn’t.)

The table goes silent, previously loud chatter now nowhere to be found. And Rudo, with a chill, realizes that maybe he should've kept his mouth shut. Damn him and his stupid tounge.
The scent of forget-me-nots sours, turning rotten. A cloud of everything dark and malicious seems to descend over the group, making them still.
Slowly, very very slowly, Rudo lifts his head to take a glance. A bad, no, terrible decision. So bad in fact, that the only thing he sees before Lovely Assitaff connects with his skull is the rage behind those indigo eyes.
