He did not need brothers- he had them, sorted them into neat catagories of Touya the dead one and Natsuo the missing one. He had them and he moved past the need for them to be anything more. His classmates wanted brotherhood amongst themselves, which made them hesitate in training as they tried to come to terms with hurting each other.

So that's the answer Shouto wants to give, to spew out the dreadful, damning epitaph that he's engraved for himself in frost and flame, when those sunshine yellow eyes peer past the blanket that hangs off of his bed.
"Hey, Freezerburn." Kaminari Denki's smile is gentle. "How long 'til you come out from there?"
Shouto's eyes, owlishly wide and stormily stern, glow catlike from the shadows.
"...Long." He mumbles.
The word sticks in his vocal cords like peanut butter.
Denki is unperturbed, smile still wide and bright as the sky. "Can I come under there?"

Shouto hides under his bed. He doesn't deserve to do rehab at UA, and he certainly doesn't deserve Denki's kindness.

And Aizawa's right. Shouto does NOT want to talk about it. He doesn't want to think about it. He doesn't want to recall what he went through. He keeps his mind blank for a reason. That action alone is keeping him alive. He'll lose it if he lets it go now.
He doesn't even bother with the rest of what his teacher said. Shouto knew that they escaped. He should probably be worried abouth them coming back but he doesn't think there's anything left for them to do that hasn't been done to him already. For now at least.
Shouto wonders how much his teacher has managed to discover about what happend. Probably enough to scratch the surface, but still, Shouto needs to know. Just how much does Aizawa know?
