Summary
Just west of the town Porthgwarra, Cornwall, Robert Singer’s farm lies, a mess of ravaged land gaping out onto a fretting sea. Robert's orphaned godson, Dean Winchester, is named sole beneficiary of the farm - and though he hasn't seen his godfather in fifteen years, he travels across the Atlantic with his brother and half brother to care for Singer in his old age and tend to the farm. All of them hope to leave behind the squalor and famine of their old life.
What Dean meets is the bird-infested home of a widowed eccentric, and a new shepherd whom he can neither stand nor see any use for - stoic, rude and conceited, Dean plans to fire the mysterious and wandering Mr Novak the moment he comes into legal possession of the farm. But upon the shepherd's offer to teach him the trade, in anticipation of Dean replacing the man himself, Dean finds in the wild and roaming man a steadiness and certainty his own life has never yet contained. And one day Dean will have to ask, not tell, the shepherd to stay.

Summary
Usually, Sam visits the bookstore the most during the last few weeks of the school year to see if anything catches his eye before summer break, when he’ll actually have the free time to devote to personal reading. But this time when he comes in, it’s Saturday morning in early July.
It’s hot and slightly humid outside even though it’s not yet noon, and Sam approaches the store entrance gratefully, hearing the familiar chime as he lets himself inside. As his eyes adjust from the bright sun to the relative darkness of the store, Sam sees that there’s a new display in the center of the main room on the round table he’s seen so many times before.
As he admires the display, still cooling off from his brief walk outside, he hears a chiming laugh not far from his ear. Somewhat startled, Sam turns his head to see who thinks his interest is so amusing.
What he sees stops him short, and he feels himself start to blush furiously. He also feels almost instantaneously infatuated as he looks down at a petite, red-headed woman. She has dramatic, smoky eye makeup paired with a bright red lip, and there’s something almost knowing in her gaze.

Dean’s tone borders on joking, but the words burn uncomfortably in Castiel’s ears. He can feel where the whole line of his body tenses. He needs to leave, needs to escape and wrap all of his rotten fantasies up in a tight little box and throw them away where they will never see the light of day again. Castiel swallows, jolts as his eyes dart around and refuse to meet Dean’s.
“Wait.” Dean sounds disbelieving. Castiel wants to disappear. “Wait, seriously, Cas?”

When an accident lands him in the ER Dean comes face to face with his biggest crush when he discovers Cas is his nurse. It seems like fate that he manages to strike up a friendship with the father of some of his favorite students. But with Castiel still bitter over the way his ex used him up and then left him with nothing but 3 young kids to raise on his own he may be guarding his heart with too much caution to let someone new in.
Dean will have to find a way to thaw the ice around Cas' heart or risk letting his chance at happiness slip through his fingers.

Life is nothing but a series of processes. We rise, we work, we function within the walls we’ve designed for ourselves. Dean Winchester does not deviate from this system. Heavily tattooed and a certified genius; Dean necessitates control. Relationships are a no-go. Too messy, unpredictable. And yeah, he knows having casual sex with his best friend, roommate, and business partner is a dumbass move. But Cas’ suggestion is impossible to resist.
What Dean doesn’t expect and couldn’t possibly predict is the unique way Cas manages to shut down his mile-a-minute mind, giving him a level of inner peace he’d thought to be unattainable.
What starts out of convenience morphs into a dynamic emotional slide neither of them were prepared for, forcing them to decide what they’re willing to risk.
