His trial set unprecedented history as the first ever, and likely the last ever, to include non-human entities as key witnesses. Notably, the shinigami Ryuk agreed to testify on Light Yagami’s behalf for quote, “entertainment and a favor to a longtime friend”. Many officers of the law from across the globe have stated that it is a miracle he was even granted a trial in the first place, as there was overwhelming evidence of his crimes, and due to the scale of his trangressions, it was very likely that he would have been simply executed quietly. However, the court seemingly intended to make an example out of him, that even the great and elusive Kira could be captured.

The vivid clarity of the world around himself, draped in a dark cloak of night that his enhanced eyes saw through as if it were but a thin sheet; the crisp autumn air tickling the inside of his nostrils with such saturation that it almost felt like he could taste the coming winter on the tip of his tongue. The breeze that came from this altitude tickled his bare skin, and despite its ineffectual chill against his strengthened flesh, goosebumps climbed up his neck from the tactile sensitivity he bore against its breath.
Everything felt so real, realer and fresher than it'd ever been. If that made sense, which it probably didn’t.
His senses then were just so alive that he didn’t think he could recall a time he’d ever been so… aware, of everything.
Toji fucking Fushiguro. Who would've guessed. In the middle of Shibuya too, like, really?

Tantai Jin tries to close his ears, but the thing is INSIDE him. There is no place to escape, not a single ray of light visible through the chinks anywhere. Then, something strange happens and his lonely, animalistic existence is thrown into disarray. The moon from the sky floats into his room and talks to him. Maybe, something is going to change. Maybe, he will not die a horrible death before long and get carried away by the hounds of hell after all.

This is an unapologetic fix-it story. It sprang from an idea I had about a point in the story where some simple changes could have saved so much future suffering. This is going to be a long fic. There will still be angst but in small amounts. Later on in the story there will be explicit smut, hence the smut rating. Ji Ze sends her back again, granting her an advantage: knowledge of events she experienced the first time. He also gives her another gift—foreknowledge of events that would have occurred had she succeeded in her mission. This time, she becomes Ye Xiwu, but with Li Susu's love for Tantai Jin intact, determined to save both him and the world.

So when he finds himself back in his own bamboo cottage, un-burned down, his peak un-destroyed, and the little half-demon brat disciple of his still un-blackened, he figures he could, possibly, be a little bit less of a dickhead this time.
If only he'd gone back to before the little monster had joined his peak in the first place.
