Summary

there's unspoken feelings, bad decisions made at the worst times, more late-night dining hall runs than anyone should admit, and one too many instances of pretending everything is fine when it isn't.
they come to Georgetown as strangers. they leave -- well, still kind of a mess, but at least they're a mess together.
growing up is hard. growing up alongside the people who might ruin you a little less? that's something.

There's always been something about being on stage that makes Emily feel like a whole different person. Maybe it's how loud it is, that hazy kind of ambience that comes with the low lights and the way the music vibrates through her skin.
Maybe it's the people on the crowd, screaming and dancing and feeling like they belong somewhere for at least one night. Maybe it's Derek sweating by the drums, or Spencer on the keyboard with his eyes closed. Maybe it's Aaron rumming through his bass or Penelope backstage singing along and controlling the lights.
Maybe it's the way JJ looks at her while she sings.
Whatever it is, Emily thinks as she looks at her friends, it makes her feel like she belongs somewhere, too.

Getting caught with her hand down her pants while watching a shitty porno with an equally shitty pun-based title like Saving Ryan’s Privates or something just as shitty and dumb would’ve been less humiliating than this. By a wide, wide, wide margin.
Rio pauses after shutting the door behind her. She tilts her head in confusion, very much resembling a puppy failing to stick out its paws as their owner tries to do the wall test on them. Agatha wants to bounce her own head off the wall.
“Were you—”
“No.”
“I mean, it sure sounded like—”
