“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

When Scar wakes up to find Grian perched on the foot of his bed, he’s not surprised. Alarmed, yes. Frightened, a little bit, though he’d sooner be put in thumbscrews than admit it. But surprised? No. Not at all. There’s a certain narrative symmetry here – though Grian’s never really cared about symmetry. In his builds, maybe, sure, but certainly not in the stories he tells.
(Grian goes red, and decides to pay Scar a visit. Scar has... complicated emotions about this. Grian does not.)

It starts small. Small enough that Mumbo doesn't really clock it at first: stray thoughts about block palettes that have nothing to do with his project; a vague flicker of irritation for no reason he can discern; random twinges around his shoulder blades even when he hasn't been crouched over a redstone circuit, tufts of downy feathers hidden in his normally slick black hair.
He chalks it up to the influence of the moon at first as it hangs ever-larger on the horizon. Honestly, most of the strange happenings in Boatem can be chalked up to the moon these days. His lack of sleep probably isn't helping, either. Lack of sleep can do a lot to a person, and none of it is good.
Mumbo ignores the small things. He's got bigger things—much bigger things—to worry about now.Or so he thinks.
(Or: Mumbo deals with being soulbound to Grian, and by extension Scar, very poorly.)

So far, every previous session has been a blast. But things become complicated at the end of double life when Scott realizes that his boyfriend in the real world went out and got a whole other boyfriend during the game. All while having no memory of him.
The next upcoming life game is sure to be an awkward one…

The guards left, slamming the door shut behind them, and Pearl felt her hair stand on end as the wards reactivated, a staticky zing traveling through her shackles and grounding in her skin.
The prisoner startled, levered himself up and hissed through his teeth. “Right, that wasn’t the smartest decision I’ve made this week,” he remarked quietly. “Scar? Are you across from me?”
Shuffling in the opposite cell. “Can you do me a favor?” a second voice asked. “The next time you threaten guards, can you try to have a weapon first to strike fear into their hearts? I think you broke our hand.”
“We have another,” the man said defensively, and Scar huffed a laugh. “And anyway– oh. There’s someone else in here with me.”
