He’d come back to himself weeks later, wearing soiled robes, surrounded by melon rinds and chicken bones. He’d felt vaguely ashamed of himself but also satisfied in a way he didn't remember ever having been before. An itch he’d had for thousands of years had been scratched. There were entirely new colours in the world.
He wondered how it would have felt to have a single taste of food and then… stop. If God Herself had come down (as he’d half-suspected She would) and given him a stern talking-to then of course he would have stopped. But his body would have screamed and gnashed its teeth. It would have hurt, and… oh bloody Hell, that was it, wasn’t it.
He’d had a single taste of Crowley.

Summary
In 1970, Crowley met Freddie Mercury, then met him again, and again, until the meeting became something that was far more than meeting, and too much like love for anything Crowley was supposed to be allowed.
In 2022, Crowley watched Aziraphale walk away from him, at which point his blasted car decided the only thing he'd be allowed to hear was a song written by a human he loved, about the angel Crowley had loved from the dawn of his memories.
There are things we can't get back once they're gone, but sometimes, once in a great while, faith and perseverance can bring about something that feels like reconstruction. Sometimes, we get another chance.

(He might have the decency to ask the books what they thought of this plan. The books had been watching the two of them for over a hundred years, and certainly had a great deal to say on the matter. But Aziraphale neglects to consult them, and thus will be very unprepared for what happens next.)

Crowley looked at him. He was still wearing his suit, there was tartan in it, but it had become polished, the worn edges returned to pristine, boring perfection. He looked too prim. Proper. Perhaps this hurt most of all.
(Crowley is on earth, Aziraphale is not. Meanwhile the world goes on. Plans, great and possibly ineffable, are set into motion. They are--always, inevitably--drawn back together. Long before reconciliation, long before they can bear it. The only thing they can bear less is staying apart.

Mobius sounds stunned. They are not aligned, they are not in tandem. But there are wistful glimmers of what is now agonisingly out of reach.
“No," Loki admits, eyes unable to settle on the Mobius that isn’t his. "I’m not.”
“Who are you then, really? Cos it sounds like you've been making some waves and not just around these parts.”
Head resting against the wall, Loki lets his hands hang loose over his knees. They droop with his resigned realisation.
“It doesn’t matter who I am.”
A breathless laugh slips out of Mobius as he shakes his head. Somehow, there's warmth in it.
“Oh, it matters. It - it definitely matters."
This is what remains.

Summary
The time has come for Improvement Day, Heaven's decennial work retreat. The angels posted to Earth are relieved of their terrestrial assignments and join middle management in attempting to improve organizational operations right across the board. Typical activities include name games, trust falls, client-facing skill role play, and miracle budget workshops. It's loathed by all the Earth operatives- but particularly by Aziraphale, who always finds himself unable to fit in (no matter how many icebreakers there are).
This year, an angel no one quite remembers seeing before is on a mission to befriend Aziraphale, but it seems that the odds are against him. He has to contend with a networking-obsessed Gabriel and an unabashedly flirtatious colleague; Michael thinks he might be the next big thing in parsimonious celestial energy handling; and Sandalphon is sure he's seen him somewhere before. Meanwhile, Aziraphale's angry with him for showing up, the gold paint on his cheeks is flaking, losing a contact lens would mean a quick discorporation at the hands of four dozen angels, and isn't this just the story of Crowley's life?

I see you smiling in the cigarette glow/ though the picture fades too soon.
The window is open oh so slightly. There Crowley leans with his elbow on the sill, cigarette in hand. The sight is ephemeral in the darkened room, with only that weak spark for a light.
Aziraphale mirrors Crowley’s stance, drifting closer, and does not mind the chill of the night air against his skin.
“You hate tobacco,” he says.
Crowley smirks through a trail of smoke. “How do you know?”
Aziraphale doesn’t reply. It feels abruptly like showing his hand, to reveal it all—how can he say: You always have a tell, the way your nose wrinkles, my dear. I daresay, over the years, it’s one of the few things that has stayed the same?
