Sometimes, it is too loud. The world creeps a little too close and Wilhelm cannot shut it out even with the heels of his palms pressed into his eyes and his fingers stretching to cover his ears. It squeezes him tighter and tighter until there are coils winding around his chest that force his arms back down to his sides and his back up straight again.
And then he is back, staring back down the barrel of a camera, and a script he memorised half an hour ago is tumbling from his mouth without conscious thought.

Here is the lie turned truth of the Witches’ Road, upon which all its other truths follows:
The Witches’ Road is a circle.
And for a circle, there is no end or beginning. For a circle, the end is the beginning. In that circle, only a coven may enter and only a coven may leave—no witch left behind. Because a coven is a sacred circle of its own.
So it is that the only way to truly leave the Witches’ Road is to break the circle—for all of the coven to pass their trials and survive together.
