Airi wipes frantically at her eyes. She can’t let Shizuku see her like this, overcome with emotion at a few words, but a soft hand, lingering with jasmine fragrance, comes to rest on her back.

So Ena moves closer, because she’s also curious. She’s never been good at denying these things to herself. Mizuki’s eyes brighten with something a little too close to amusement.
They lean closer. Closer. Ena bites her tongue.
Mizuki and Ena meet, 10 years after Nightcord at 25:00 had their last meeting.

I wish that you had this stupid condition instead of me, I wish that you would forget about me, I wish that you had to feel how lonely and hurt I am, stuck in this stupid hospital, day after day. I know it makes me an awful, despicable person. I hate myself too.” Saki pauses, tears running down her face. She’s shaking quietly, but her voice is steady as she says: “Say you hate me.”
“No, Saki, I could never hate you.”
“Say it. Say it, I deserve it, okay? Don’t do this righteous stuff with me, okay? Say you hate me! I just told you that I wished you were dead! Why don’t you hate me!?”
Saki breaks off, she’s halfway to screaming, held back by the desperate gasping noises she can’t seem to stop making. She’s lost control over herself, and it’s the worst feeling in the world, hands and arms and torso shaking violently within Tsukasa’s arms as she sobs and begs him to hate her, just as much as she hates herself.

This isn’t a very new revelation, at least for Rui, because he thinks about Tsukasa a lot. It’s just a fact, like all the other inevitable facts of the universe. The sky is blue, standard ABB robotic arms are the cheapest on the market, and Tsukasa Tenma takes up at least 80% of Rui’s brain space. It’s simply natural, when you’re partners the way Tsukasa and Rui are partners.

Albedo's cheeks heat at the thought, and he's momentarily angry with himself for being unable to suppress the thought of what it would be like to dance with Kaeya.
"No." Albedo says firmly, grabbing Kaeya's arm and spinning him around so they were face-to-face. It was at moments like these that Albedo desperately hated the extra 9 inches of height Kaeya had on him, letting Kaeya tower over Albedo with a calm authority that sent swarms of butterflies through his stomach.
"Why not?"
"It's not— you're not— I can't, okay?" Albedo sucks in a breath and this time, he's the one to turn around to hide his embarrassingly red cheeks. "You're Cryoconite and you do terrible things to the city and I'm Calx, the one who's meant to stop you whenever you get up to something, so if we were to go to a gala together, it would be terribly, awfully inappropriate, even if no one knows who we are."
