Despite very much not wanting to, Raph opened his eyes. He prepared to yell at whoever it was that was bothering him at this hour. "Someone better be dying." He complained, even more pissed off when he saw the orange bandana through blurry vision. Seriously? It was too late for this. "The fuck are you doing awake at this hour Mike-..."
The words died on his tongue when he saw the tears dripping down his cheeks. Now that he was closer, the older could hear the shudders in his breath.
His expression went from annoyed to concerned so fast, any other day it would have been funny. "Mikey-?"
His brother didn't answer. Instead, without facing him, he lifted the blankets, and got underneath them- head an all, before he let the blanket smother him.
"Woah, hey..." Raph tried to sit up, but stopped when he felt Mikey's arms around his stomach, face nuzzling against his plastron.
...Which felt... hot.
Sickly-hot.

Somehow, Doc always got the truth out of him without really trying. He was crafty that way and Lightning still didn't know how he did it.
Anyway, that's how the conversation was supposed to, but it didn't.
Instead of poking at the obvious, Doc casually checked his watch. "Do you happen to know how long it'll take us to get to our terminal?"
Lightning shrugged, tapping his phone screen once more before shoving both hands back in his pockets. Forty-six minutes and counting. "Probably ten to fifteen minutes."
"Fifteen minutes?" Doc shook his head and Lightning noticed his lips twitching in an unclaimed smile. "I don't think it takes that long."
"It feels like that long," Lightning muttered.
"Well," Doc said, nodding at an upcoming sign, "there it is. We could always see exactly how long it'll take."
That… wasn't a bad idea, Lightning mused.
But it'll also take up more time and we only have forty—
It's also right there. It couldn't hurt to take a little peek and see…Standing in front of the terminal tram station a couple minutes later—Forty-five minutes and counting—Lightning forced himself to breathe.
"Wow," Doc said. "Only two minutes to Terminal B. That's a lot less than I'd thought. And only a five to seven minute walk."
"You do realize we'll probably have to go through security again, right?"
"Most likely." Doc gave a light shrug. But this is a big airport. They'll get us through in no time."
(Chapter 2)
Aww thats gentle parenting right there xd"What ever happened to that guy?" Doc asked at last.
Lightning blinked. "What guy?"
"The one who missed his flight because he couldn't get to his terminal on time. The one you were telling Mater about."
And the moment Doc turned to meet his eyes, Lightning knew that he knew.
Somehow, Doc always knew.
"Oh." Taking a slow breath, he tried for a casual shrug, shifting his gaze to the tram. Because there's no point in dancing around the subject now, is there? "Like I said, he missed his flight."
"What else?" Doc prodded.
Another shrug shook Lightning's shoulders. "I mean, he freaked out a lot at the front of the security line, but he does that a lot anyway, so I guess no surprise there. He booked another flight, so it sort of all worked out, but it was probably one of the top five worst hours of his life. He called his agent, but that just ended with him getting yelled at a whole bunch, and he was so young and alone and had absolutely no idea what to do because he'd never flown alone internationally before…"
Taking another breath, Lightning finally bit the bullet and glanced back at Doc. "Which is why he really wants to get going before time runs out."
Something in Doc's expression softened,

Except, he can still see Orion Pax in there, with his righteous demeanor and those blue optics as familiar to him as his own. They’re full of sorrow, his mouth a twist of pain.
And somehow that’s what makes him turn away, resetting his vocalizer. “It’s too late for that.”
He’s hollow. He’s so full of this awful, septic anger and he has nowhere to put it.
“No, it’s not-” Pax reaches out a servo, almost hesitant. He looks like he’s actually listening for once, and there’s a touch of desperation there. Hope. D-16 huffs a small, brittle laugh. Pax always could hope.

D-16’s question hangs in the air, precarious – that is, for all of two seconds before Orion takes D-16’s servo in his. His optics briefly glance away before meeting him with all their warmth.
“Yeah, I do.”
D-16’s jaw drops while he tries to backpedal, to hide a confession he has never been ready to make. “Uh, I didn’t mean it like that. Y–You know ‘love’ as in like friends do and all, and that, and yeah I’m– I’m gonna stop talking now.”
Orion laughs, warm, and not at all awkward, and like he knows what D-16 really means. He brings D-16’s heavy servo to his intake and does not kiss it. Somehow, it feels like a promise.
Or: D-16 and Orion Pax spend a night star-gazing shortly after the Iacon 5000. The next morning, they wake as Megatron and Optimus Prime.
