Summary
Platonic life partners, Abby Winfield and David Wymack adopt an orphan girl to come and live at the Foxcourt, their sanctuary for children no one wants, but get something they didn't expect instead (hint: not a girl).
It's Andrew as Gilbert Blythe, Neil as Anne Shirley (everyone's favorite redhead), and the rest of the Foxcourt characters in an Anne of Green Gables/Anne with an E AU that's a bit darker/rougher around the edges than the original, but a lot less heterosexual too. (Lol.)
You do not need to have read or watched the original to understand the story.
Update: After finishing the first part, I wanted to add a bit more to the summary. This will be part of a series. The first story deals with the kids as tweens, setting up a lot of the major plot points and relationships. Later stories will be them as older teens/young adults.

Jean scoffs. “You cannot be serious.”
“He’s…” What is Kevin? Not any better at telling Riko ‘no’ than Jean is, and, subsequently, probably not great at lying to him. Also, is it really believable that Kevin would jeopardize the team and their athletic careers by shitting where he eats? Probably not. Kevin’s amended hierarchy of needs just has the word EXY at the base. Somewhere far above that are pedestrian concerns like ‘food’ and ‘water’ and ‘shelter.’

Summary
Over the years, Neil had to find ways to distract himself from the horrors of his life and so it was expected that he had a list of things to do. The most common being to focus on his soul marks.
Years ago, up until Neil was fourteen, the marks would show up all the time. Painless bruises and cuts, scars and scratches. They would appear for twenty-four hours before vanishing, despite his soulmate still baring them.
Now they were much rarer. A scratch now and again from average clumsiness. A bruise from playing sports perhaps.
They used to be much more sinister. Hand marks in the wrong places. Scars too neat to be accidental.
There was someone out there for Neil. Someone to hope for.
