Summary
Fated Foes. Fated Friends? Fated to be something more…? We’ll Meet Again follows the story of two of Fate’s finer creations. Two souls, handpicked by the divine herself, to walk the Earth together until the condition that breaks the spell which binds them is met. Through many reincarnations, living more lives than they could keep track of, John and Simon loath, laugh, live, and perhaps learn to love each other.
Fate is to blame for a lot of things. Some of them good, some of them terrible. Some see her work in the little, bothersome moments, like forgetting your umbrella on the only rainy day in June. Others believe that she walks around with a ball of red yarn and ties it between the fingers of lovers as they sleep. Fate herself would say her actions are much, much larger than simply losing your keys or the trivialities of romance.
We’ll Meet Again provides a glance into each of these fickle lives, where the men face trials, trivialities, and the huge challenge of coming to terms with their feelings. Feelings which, at the time, could land them in some very hot water.

Alastor gave a slight giggle in response, seemingly amused by the bizarre greeting. Vincent still wasn’t sure if he was laughing at him or if he just laughed at everything. He found he didn’t care that much either way, now that his initial anger had passed. Alastor had a nice laugh.

“Holl-an-der.” Ilya’s voice was hoarse and cracked and slightly numb. He rounded his ‘H’ and placed an extra syllable between it. Shane had a very fleeting thought that he had never heard his name said so beautifully, and then crushed that feeling into a ball and shoved it right down.
“Yes. Hi, Ilya.” He reached out, pressing his hands against the taped gauze at Ilya’s side, securing it down again. The other man grimaced and Shane, very so gently, apologised.
The other man shook his head, said something Shane definitely did not understand in Russian, and brought his hand to meet Shane’s at his waist. A sharp spark that is definitely not something he wants to talk about right now, thank you, shoots up through his hand. A gun echoes in the distance.
Or: Ilya is a soldier. Shane is a doctor. They meet in a makeshift hospital in the midst of World War One.

The real-life Terra Nova Expedition, organised by the British Royal Navy, took place between 1910 and 1913 under the leadership of Captain Scott. His main goal was to win the race to the South Pole, but scientific research was a priority as well. Six of his men, collectively known as the Northern Party, spent most of 1911 on a remote beach that would turn out to be the world’s largest Adélie penguin rookery.
In this story, Anthony J. Crowley (surgeon, zoologist, photographer) takes the place of Northern Party member George Murray Levick. I tried to stick as much as possible to the actual scientific facts and timeline of events, but some creative license did have to be taken.
For example, there was no real-life monsterfucking at any point during the Terra Nova Expedition… as far as we know.

If you can’t tell I’ve been re-reading the Regeneration trilogy by Pat Barker and so this happened... Anyway.....
Remus and Sirius met for the first time in the early days of the First World War and were lovers throughout their time in the trenches. Remus is an ambulance driver, seeing the aftermath of the carnage each day, while Sirius is an officer responsible for sending men (if you could call them that) to their death in No Man's Land. They find brief solace with each other but can never truly get close to each other. When Remus was injured and permanently disabled he broke off their relationship. Sirius, still struggling with shell shock after over a decade, had thought Remus had died years ago of his wounds. But when they meet unexpectedly fifteen years after the end of the war old feelings rekindle themselves despite changed bodies and minds.

Tommy comes home victorious.
This is probably the healthiest Tommy/OC relationship in this genre of fan fictions I have ever read. They work so well together as a unit and most of the drama comes from external factors. Very low cortisol typa read :)
