While on a mission with the party, inside some old mines, Cloud and them come across a old bridge they needed to cross. It was rickity, loose, probably about to crumble. Crumble it did, as Cloud being the last to cross, the bridge planks gave in, the ropes no longer holding its structure.

Summary
After Yuffie finds an incredibly powerful version of a time materia that allows it's user to get a glimpse of the future, Cloud volunteers to test it out to see if it could be useful.
However, instead of getting a glimpse of their upcoming battles with Shinra or Sephiroth, Cloud instead is treated to a vision of life after the fighting is done, one where he is truly happy.
Takes place sometime during Rebirth, future vision however is Post Advent Children.
Rated mature for Cloud and Tifa having a VERY physical romance, no actual sex though.

“Someone’s burning the midnight mako,” Aerith says, sitting down beside him. There's a glass of water in her hand, and he stares at it quietly, tasting the drought on his tongue.
“Just a visit from my guardian angel,” Cloud mutters. He's sure that half the inn heard him screaming in his sleep – Tifa's brought it up enough times back in Midgar that he'll never forget that it happens sometimes. Embarrassment colours his cheeks just as brightly as the illusory fire had.

After a traumatizing past, an incredibly painful quest to destroy a war-hero-turned-villain and save the planet, surviving the advanced stage of Geostigma, and helping quell the Deepground rebellion, it seemed Cloud's life was ready to take a turn for good. The kids were healthy and happy. His small business was thriving. Edge seemed a better place to live by the day, and patches of fresh green grass began to grow in some neighbourhoods. Even if he couldn't be truly happy without Aerith by his side, he was trying his best to live a fulfilling life for her.
Except he started to show long-term symptoms of Mako poisoning, which were getting worse as the years went on. Nothing in this world was able to stop the pain of his body, or his heart, so he got more reckless. Twelve years after his flower girl was taken from him, Cloud's become a pathetic shadow of his former self, living to hope not to wake up the next time he closed his eyes, longing for the sweet relief of her healing touch.
Cloud's way past his breaking point, and neither he nor his friends can deal with the outcomes.
