The SUV stopped hard in front of a sprawling house painted in light blue and green—odd choices for a place this expensive. Wilbur got out of the car and walked towards it, the perimeter was already secured in yellow police tape and officers were placed everywhere like little Lego men in a set, unsurprising — rich people always were such snobs. He showed the two officers at the front his ID and they let him inside.
Or: Wilbur's a homicide detective who got assigned a new case, as well as a new partner.

Geralt didn't flinch, it was nothing he hadn't heard hurled at him before, usually followed by a derisive laugh from the speaker. The stranger in the gym might not have even meant for him to hear the word.
Even when people had heard about Witcher Syndrome, they seemed to forget about the more acute senses, like hearing. So he pretends that the insult had just been an aside that the man behind him had meant to keep to himself, and continues his workout.

Witcher Syndrome is a disorder that causes genetic mutations to occur to those who develop it. While some symptoms could almost be considered advantageous, others are clearly detrimental to those affected. As with any disability, there are those with prejudices against those that are “other” or “different”.
Geralt has spent most of his life learning to protect himself from being hurt by those who won’t understand that his differences don’t make him a freak.
But, it will take someone with quite a lot of zest for life and self-love, to show Geralt how to be okay with himself, and to remind him that at the end of the day, he is still only human.
Someone like Jaskier.
