At 9:32 on a beautiful Sunday morning, a young woman is found in her Chicago apartment dead as a doornail. The time of death is unknown and the cause is ruled a suicide. The funeral is meant to be a quiet, solemn little event, but much to the horror of those come to pay their respects, the casket is empty. A thorough investigation is launched, although perhaps not thorough enough. Aradia Megido's body has disappeared.
Elsewhere, at around the same time, a young man wearing an objectively stupid pair of sunglasses stands over a freshly dug grave, shovel in hand. He checks his watch. Nods impassively. He's right on time.

Summary
Thirty years after the initial Super Boom, and the country is in shambles. The only thing holding the city of Sburb together is Alpha, an organization of powered inhumans that act as the law in a city where the law does not exist otherwise. If you have the influence, the freedom and the skill to be accepted into Alpha, you live life as a celebrity and a hero.
Dave Strider does not have the influence, the freedom, or the skill, and he lives his life as a mildly recognisable menace. On the streets he is Redshift; a masked street Super running errands for a mobster named English to get by. But there's just one tiny little catch: English knows Dave's real identity, and could have his sister shot in the time it takes to make a phone call. Dave is trapped, and just when he thought hiding the fact from his psychic sister was hard, English calls him in one day with an ultimatum.
In order to keep his sister safe, Dave would do anything. However, helping a mob boss lure and kidnap a teenage dog girl turned out to be a lot more complicated than it sounded on paper.

Homestuck/Apocalypse AU. On an Alternia inhabited by trolls and humans, it was prophesied years ago that when the birth of the Son of the Messiah came to be, the world had only five sweeps remaining until the end. A baby boy is found on the steps of the MatriChurch, and is given the name Karkat Vantas--while a necklace of the Signless is found around his neck. The sign of the Messiah. Hidden away by his surrogate mother-sister Kanaya and her fellow Sisters, it is hoped that the prophecy won't come true--but when meteors are sighted on his fourteenth birthday, and demons and angels come a-knocking, the end seems to be coming, and there are two fates ahead of Karkat: kidnapped by the demons, who use his power to burn the world, or kidnapped by the angels, who use his power to 'cleanse' the world. As a last ditch effort, Kanaya elicits the Seer of Light's help, whose cousin is the Knight of Time--a Knight who will be paid handsomely if he can safely escort Karkat to the mysterious Altar of Blood on the other side of the planet, perhaps the only possible third option that will stop The End. The only problem? It's looking like Dave's falling for the New Messiah, whose blood will be spilled regardless of the option they choose.

EDIT 2023: I started this fic in 2015, abandoned it, resumed briefly in 2018, abandoned it again, found it in 2023 and resumed again. Chapters 1-4 I'll keep as unedited as possible, but those are teen writing era, so be warned for the mistakes and such (that likely persist into my 'adult' writing, lol).
Mutation. It is the key to our evolution. It is how we have evolved from a single-cell organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But, every few millennia, evolution leaps forward. Established, and perhaps even cliché as this process is, what happens when four children are given the powers of gods? What happens when, in a world that detests difference, what is different becomes something else entirely? And what happens when these kids, barely on the cusp of understanding either this power or themselves, begin to unravel a secret government conspiracy far beyond anything they could imagine?
