Overcome by his own emotions, Jon had tried not to lose his self-control, to rely on his strength and take that monster down, to hold his breath and try to concentrate, but in the end his powers had been unleashed and, crushed by that huge hand, he had encapsulated in all his cells the very power of the sun and created a small supernova that had destroyed acres and acres of land, leaving only rubble, burned fields, birds and small animals that had been caught up in it despite themselves. And at the sight of the horror he himself had created, wounded, without a shred of strength left and bleeding, Jon had slumped beside the lifeless body of that creature. Perhaps it was true, he did not deserve to receive the mantle and be Superman's successor.
«Sorry, Dad...» he whispered to nothingness in lowering his eyelids, seeing one last green glow silhouetted against the midnight blue sky before he passed out.-
