Years after the horror of Smaug and miles away from Erebor, Signí is a young dwarrowess working in her father's shop. As fate would have it, exiled dwarven prince Thorin finds himself living in the same village. Alienated and lonely in the world of humans, the two former childhood friends find themselves in love and finally have a chance to be together... but something sinister is lurking in the shadows. How far would Signí go for the love of her life? Will they create a new life together, or will the madness in Thorin's family prove to be too much?
This is the life of Thorin Oakenshield.
(This is a headcanon that won't leave me and fills in the years of Thorin's life between the arrival of Smaug and the quest for Erebor. I will try to stay as true to the events in Tolkien's texts as I can while exploring what he doesn't say, though for this story the characters look like they do in the films.)

However, things are not always what they seem, and after months of hiding your desire for the Crown Prince of Erebor out of fear of rejection, Fíli is willing to do whatever it takes to convince you that the prince can love the tailor's daughter after all.
[Use of the 'Misunderstandings' trope is brief and completely resolved through a (hopefully) entertaining conversation (communication is a good thing!). After that, well...things heat up very quickly.]

And there’s nothing like a fairy-tale of scandal and lost nobility! The story is completely from Ori’s point of view. Expect appearances from Thror, Frerin (who is an utterly spoiled brat - apologies to Frerin worshipers), Lady Galadriel, Thranduil and practically everyone else. This is totally safe for Dain fans!
Smaug never hatched and Isildur listened to Elrond (somebody has to) and the one Ring no longer exists. Sauron is just a bad guy with orc armies.
There are some serious bits, but mostly it’s just a lively romp with food. Did we mention the food?Series

Bilbo Baggins, the Thain’s grandson and Master of Bag End, represents the hobbits of The Shire while Thorin II Oakenshield, Heir Prince Under the Mountain, represents the dwarves of Erebor. Both must abide by this ancient agreement with the pressure of their families and for the betterment of their people.
Bilbo and Thorin will enter the courting of both cultures— Thorin will travel to the Shire for nine months, and then Bilbo to Erebor for nine months. All hope everything goes well...

Summary
Bilbo Baggins’ letter was different from all the others Thorin had received at that time.
First, Bilbo actually got his name right. Very little people cared to learn Thorin’s name those days, so most of his packages were sent as “to the blacksmith in the woods”. He used to have a name, a title and a kingdom. And then, after the dragon fire, all was left were ashes, a hunted kingless kingdom and the bitter taste of defeat.
Yet, somehow as if a miracle, there it was: “To Mister Thorin, Blacksmith from Erebor”.

But what shall they do, when a long awaited prophecy finally comes? When the war is sure, when the dragon wakes up, will love be enough?
