Summary
After staking out Katniss Everdeen, the career pack and Peeta are treated to a chaotic and explosive morning. When the group wakes up to the arena violently shaking and collapsing they have no choice but to run.
What is one to do when they go from the games into the wilderness of Panem with no means of Capital help?
Now lost with no idea what to do the tributes from 1,2,11, and 12 will have to put up with each other and work together in order to survive. An alliance the both Clove and Cato are hesitant to trust, especially when the idea of hiding out in District 2 is suggested.
With skeletons hanging out in both their closets and their mutual goal of wanting to win the games being ripped from them they feel more lost than ever.
Can they keep it together and work with the others? Or will the floodgates fall and all the secrets come out?

Her sister’s name is called at the reaping, and Peeta knows, at once, what is going to happen. He’s watched Katniss hunch over the little blonde girl for years, watched them marvel at the cakes in the bakery window, watched her hardened face relax whenever Primrose appeared. He knows it like he knows when one of his mother’s moods is coming on, like he knows which days his father will step in and which days he will leave the house and go for one of his long walks, unable to prevent what’s occurring under his roof. He knows it maybe before she knows it herself, but she gets there quickly, and is shouting, begging to volunteer before the rest of the district can even comprehend what’s happened.
He’s in the middle of planning how to best sneak bread to her family when his name is called, too.

She also lost her brother-in-law in a work accident. Life in the districts was nothing like the Capitol; it was hard, and dangers were more prevalent. And finally, she lost her parents. Shay didn't even know what happened to them. One day, they were there, and the next, they were gone.
Closed off and reserved to all but a select few, Shay is forced out of her comfort zone and into the Capitol's circus. A tribute in the same games that she lost her brother to, she must fight to return to her family and friends.
However, her efforts become more difficult as she grows closer to those that she must kill to survive. Allies and enemies become blurred as she enters the 74th Hunger Games. Her goal is to survive, to make it back to District 10 in one piece, but what happens if she loses herself along the way? Because the truth is, even the victors are not winners. Madge is prepared, and being prepared means being as detached as possible.
What Madge hadn’t prepared for was the low voice of the boy who hates her most to ring out through the square, desperate to volunteer in his younger brother’s stead. Because of fucking course Madge has to go into the arena alongside Gale Hawthorne.
She really should have seen this coming.

It was determined, long before they ever even met each other, that they would become both partners and enemies.
