Summary
Even with Phil’s limited knowledge of Techno’s past, the man was more like a son to him than a crewmate. The man’s instinctual urge to protect is more than helpful as his role as security on the ship. Often he could go overboard, but it wasn’t unknown, every crewmate that joined them was aware of Techno’s proclivity for safety. To be fair most temporary crew mates steered clear of Techno and Tommy, both known for their hostile home planets and their species' inclination for violence.
Phil understood their responses, he did, but the list of incident reports he had to submit to the intergalactic board was becoming a bit problematic. Especially since most of them were incidents ‘conveniently’ including Tommy and by extension Techno.

Techno is in a space ship, and conveniently sick. Will the S.S.BI treat him the same way the last crew did? Will they force pills down his throat? Better safe than sorry.

Dropping his soda, Tommy stares at the television while his father and two older brothers stare at him. Stare at the silver bracelet on his wrist and his middle fingernail. "Tommy?" Phil says slowly, a look of disbelief and denial on his face, "Did Tubbo really give you that bracelet?"
"Tubbo."
Tubbo kept his hands behind his back, looking at the wall, guilt and panic growing in his chest as his father, Schlatt, looking desperate and tired. "Tubbo, tell me you're not- Tubbo show me your hands." Tubbo takes in a deep breath, shoulders trembling as he kept his hands behind his back. That's confirmation enough. "Tubbo."
Ranboo didn't have anyone, he lived alone in his apartment. Which is kind of perfect as he welcomes Tommy and Tubbo inside, both looking haggard and teary-eyed. They ran and came to him. He hugs them both and comforts them.

Summary
Techno didn't like being sick. He hated staying in place for too long, forcing other people to look after him. He hated it, so whenever he was sick, he usually powered through it, continuing as normal. Can't burden anyone if you make yourself functional, can you?
Of course, he couldn't really deny anything when he was passing out, especially with a witness.
(Luckily for him, though, Phil was an excellent caregiver. He liked doing it, liked making sure his friends, his family, knew they were loved. He was going to make sure Techno knew he wasn't a burden to anyone by the time he was healthy. In the meantime, he can make a mean soup, which might actually be just what Techno needed after all.)

Wilbur sighs, “ok but we will have to stick together.”

Skipping back over to the group, Tommy says “I’ve assumed you will stay?” Seeing their confused looks, he adds “People don’t come here unless they have no other option. We are in a zombie apocalypse, survival of the fittest.”

Technos eyes flicked from the creature down to the heap. Dad didn't even make a sound, but he was skinned like an animal. Dad tried to show him how to skin an animal once, but he ended up crying so hard he was sent home without dinner. He could see muscles and tendons. He could see his dad's eyes and teeth and nostrils without his skin protecting them.
Techno looked back at the creature, except instead of the piercing shadow of a thing, it was a spitting image of his dad. He would've almost been fooled if not for the bright blue eyes and his actual dad on the forest floor.
