“I know! It’s awful! There’s nothing to do! Steve’s the only one who will play with me. Mom’s mean,” Techno frowns. The crow hops closer to Techno’s foot and Techno slowly pats its head. He smiles when the crow jumps and knocks its head against Techno’s hand and relaxes when Techno resumes petting it. “I wish I could be like you one day and fly away,” Techno whispers, praying that his Mom isn’t listening in on him right now.The crow hops away from Techno’s hand and moves to stand at the still-open window. “What are you–” The crow lets out a loud CAW! and Techno winces. His mom definitely heard that. Techno nudges the creature out onto the ledge and shuts the window. “I’m sorry, but I can’t let her think you were in here or she’ll kill you.” The crow pecks the closed window. As though he were annoyed that he was locked out and was patiently waiting to be let back in.

“Stop worrying, mate,” Phil laughs, “I’ve got everything.” Phil begins to unpack the tent and supplies and shivers slightly at the cool air. “Is our fire pit still there?” He asks Techno as he starts setting up the tent. The fall air was cold against his cheek and Phil’s teeth chatter slightly as Techno looks for their fire pit.“It’s gone, Dad,” Techno calls back. Weird, someone must’ve filled it in. He’ll have to set up a game camera or something to see who’s trespassing.
“Ah, well, we can make a new one, I have the small shovel, do you want to–”
“I wanna set up the tent, last time you did it, it blew away.” Techno grabs the stakes from Phil’s hands and Phil laughs.
“It’s not my fault!”

Phil is taking his son out on a camping trip before it snows and they can't do it. Techno will be graduating that December and Phil couldn't be more proud of his son. The sunset was always prettiest over the meadow above the cliff. Nothing ever goes wrong on camping trips, so they'll be just fine!

Summary
Humans are, objectively, not especially more strange than any other species in the galaxy. Billions of years of evolution create some unique beings, to put it lightly.
Upon meeting a human for the first time a few things will likely stick out as weird compared to most aliens—how they can be equal parts fragile and resilient, scarily intelligent while easily stressed to sickness, and needing a ridiculous amount of water and food and oxygen for a species that seems set on crying it all out. It’s odd, even for aliens perhaps. But everyone gets used to it eventually, like they do with all species.
It’s too bad that humans are /really/ not made to survive in space though. And that Phil, Wilbur, and Tommy only know as much about humans as Techno has shared with them. Which certainly isn't enough for this situation...

The water was a little colder than the evening before, giving Techno goosebumps as he advanced further in.
When the water reached his hips he pushed himself onto his surfboard and began to paddle, further than he usually would, but careful he was still able to see the shore. Allowing himself to appreciate the moment he stopped and sat up.
It was a beautiful day, despite how early it was, the sun was shining brightly, making Techno thank all gods that he didn’t forget to put on sunscreen. Waiting for a good wave he heard something behind him akin to a gasp.
