Prompto is a clone. Every single part of him is a copy of someone else, from his face to his organs to his personality and what food he likes, probably.
Prompto sees in black and white. That’s normal for someone of his age, because statistically, most people don’t meet their soulmate until at least their twenties, and he’s only nineteen. But Prompto is pretty sure that he’ll never see in colour, because he’ll never have a soulmate. His logic is this: if he is a copy of someone else, then unless that person’s soulmate has a copy, how can he possibly have a soulmate himself? The original soulmate belongs to whoever the original of Prompto is.
The original of Prompto is Verstael Besithia. Whatever soulmate he has - Prompto thinks it might be that demented red-haired guy who got dug out of the ground like a fucking vampire - Prompto does not want them.
(In which Shiva and Ifrit tell Ramuh about Prompto and Noctis's love story in order to convince him to help them bring Noctis back to life.)

Noctis is also still very put up with the rest of Eos and all of this prophecy business when all he wants to do is play around, but still gets drawn in anyhow because he can't stand blood prices and is maybe too fond of the Accursed for what an astral really should be.
Or; Noctis is the Glacian, Luna is the king of light, and Gentiana is the oracle. Or Noctis just wants to save his beloveds and accidentally stop centuries worth of Bahamut's planning in the process.
