Clive Rosfield is content to be a firstborn failure, living out his days as his brother's Shield; to stand to the side as Joshua leads Rosaria into the future.

Some believed that Leviathan abandoned the world, believing that it had grown too poisoned with the sins of man. Summary
Rook is the perfect soldier, the best at what she was trained for, that choice of the entire army. That doesn't mean she wants to be there. Recently defected from the Imperial Army, she runs into the exact people she wants to avoid: the recently-announced-dead prince/heir of Lucis and his retinue, in hiding from the Empire while driving around the countryside. Despite her training and attempts to keep them at arm's length, she finds herself dragged into their circle, where she begins to remember that, once upon a time, she wasn't the perfect soldier.
But she made a promise, swore an oath, and there is a fire inside her that demands to be fed, to be loosed, and until her oath is fulfilled, she can never stop being the soldier. So she will walk with the Chosen King, protect him as he goes toward his destiny, and when the time comes, she will do what she has always done: be the good soldier and obey orders.

There was a story he once read of a someone who wasn't regarded as a hero. No, the knight had become what was conventionally known as a villain in order to save the one he loved.
The choice between the two wasn't going to be easy especially when the memories of a past life were slow to be remembered when he was living his new life. But...if Cid lived...it would be worth it.
