Summary
Throughout Terra, horrifying stories of a group of seven monstrosities have been circulating. at first, many considered it a tale, something akin to a legend. However, when the territory of thayserix was obliterated and turned into a winter wasteland, the rest of terra was forced to come to terms with the horrifying message left behind by the gates of thayserix. in front of the gates lay the prince of thayserix on a cross, upside down. His body was nailed to the cross through his feet and hands, his face holding a terror-stricken expression as blood dripped down through his mouth. A piece of paper was nailed to the prince's stomach.
A simple stanza. A simple message that turned the tides on Terra.
"thayserix and terra have deemed us naught but myths.
myths, we are not. we cross this world,
hungry and craving –
we simply ask for food.
What we got in response was battle, and pain.
They got what they were asking for." -

Summary
Slow burn (expect VERY slow burn) Klance story set between the end of season four and the start of season five (or at least, that's where we start). I have a rough plan of where I want this to go, but my characters tend to drag me into uncharted territory, so... yeah... no promises. (It’s a bad summary, I know. Basically, Voltron is rewritten but Shiro’s past lover, and presumed dead family and friends, are thrown into the story! It takes a huge turn from canon Read Notes!) Also, there will be more parts, so it isn’t a one-shot.
Voltron were well on their way to taking down Haggar once and for all, but then new hurdles are thrown their way and their pasts throw them for a wild ride. Can they uphold their title as Defenders of The Universe and fix their pasts, or are some things too far gone to ever be amended?
Shiro didn’t know the answer to any of those bland questions and he didn’t care. He hadn’t felt this willed and determined in phoebs and he wouldn’t give up until he fixed everything.

Adam turned back to look at the little face peeking out from underneath all the fluff. “Yeah, Lancey?”
“Are the Paladins real?” Lance’s eyes were wide with hope as his mind raced with possibilities.
Adam was quiet for a moment before answering. “No, Lance. They aren’t. Just some stories that I made up.”
“I wish they were though...” It was said with a sort of pouty disappointment that was trademark of a sad Lance. It didn’t seem fair. How can Santa and his flying reindeer be real but not the Paladins?
“... Me too… It’s late now, Lance. Go to sleep.”
And so, the 6 year old drifted into dreams of friendly elves, shiny white armor, and big cats made of metal.

After the paladins recover from the fight with the mecha, they are immediately throw back to work.
Shiro now finally has time to grief properly, but something he thought would be easy to hide has taken hold of him for good, chained him to a sick routine. With both the former and current Black Paladins in deep grief, things are moving way slower than they should.
In the midst of a scouting mission, Hunk and Lance are brought back to the place it all started, and, again, the reality that they are fighting a war, and that people are dying, is right before them. Only this time, there is one less victim; Even if his tale involves many casualties.

Shiro's muscular dystrophy is progressing more quickly than expected, already beginning to show limiting cardiovascular effects, and he blames himself for not doing enough to keep it at bay. Adam does his best to comfort him, but both of them are saddened and afraid at the knowledge of what will ultimately happen sooner than they had thought.
