~~~~~When you're a Starfleet officer at some point in your life, the whole of your experience will fit into a box. Just one. To be given to the next of kin, and if there isn't any set on some high self like a dream to achieve. Made up of those things you can’t let go of, those memories and people that won’t let you go.
A person's whole life fits in one container, service records on a single data stick. Even a captain's life.
Because captains, even in Starfleet, a place full of the best, hallowed halls full of legends, have a bad habit of becoming larger than life.
They carved grand figures out of stone and steel. Most of them cast long shadows, the hind historic figures, needing to be larger than life. Have a bad habit of leaving legacies that informed ship names as much as anything else. It’s easier than one would think to have history remember you for noble acts.

Summary

Summary
AU. During a tense rescue mission Geordi narrowly survives, but his physical and mental state deteriorate due to a fever. As Data stays by his side, tending to him, they reflect on their relationship haunted by three years of unexplained separation. Amidst Geordi's moments of disorientation and fever-induced dreams, they both try to come to terms with things not being the same as they were.
OR
Geordi catches a nasty virus. Data tends to him dutifully after having been gone for years. Geordi has a girlfriend but it's obvious he hasn't been able to let Data go.

Summary
Lore, due to his own stupidity, got attacked by a shark, snared by a giant jellyfish then bitten by a crocodile. Geordi, even more stupidly, tried to help him. They have now both wound up in hospital with near death experiences. Geordi provides some comic relief for his friends, but Lore is in a really bad way. Some would say he had it coming. He's just lucky he's got a sweetheart for a brother.

Lieutenant Commander Kannara from the U.S.S. Iroquois awaits the Enterprise on Starbase 74 in the outlying areas of explored space in the Alpha Quadrant. The Iroquois cannot save the colony alone, but the Enterprise must move quickly if there is any hope for rescue. Kannara is anxious to meet the infamous crew of Starfleet's flagship, but the real excitement is in the opportunity to meet someone she has admired for years - Lieutenant Commander Data.

Summary
Renna Albach: a normal Earth woman. Historian. Doesn't know the first thing about the galaxy beyond. Until December 2379 when an intergalactic plague threatens her life and simple worldview. Six months later with the virus mystery still open, Renna marries Data happily but tragedy strikes at the wedding. Dr. Bruce Maddox, the leading cyberneticist, is found dead the morning after the wedding. Data and Renna feel compelled to uncover the mystery of Dr. Maddox's death which will lead to shocking revelations and a question of why humans do these things, especially if they're done by those closest to you.
With the mystery seemingly unraveled, Renna and Data enjoy a honeymoon on Risa. But the honeymoon is cut short by the appearance of Q. And the Soongs find themselves at the center of a final adventure that will explore the consequences of one woman's actions and see the collapse of one of the most prominant institutions.
