After his defeat of The Anti-Monitor at the beginning of time with the aid of the Paragons, Oliver Queen/The Spectre awakens in the present day on the island of Lian Yu and is informed by The Voice that the new universe is a very different place from the world he remembers, but it still suffers from corruption and injustice and needs a force like The Spectre to mete out justice where human laws fail. Grieving the loss of his family and his universe, Oliver throws himself into his new role, and becomes a force that even heroes dare not stand against.

Coda: I chose to speak as Sin’s inner monologue upon her release on the Earth from Hell by Satan. We meet her in Books 2 and 10, but only briefly. She guards the gates of Hell, has an impressive family tree; and yet she seems a side note in Milton’s Paradise Lost. She feeds on humanities free-will and is an all-encompassing factor in human life. She influences and motivates religious and moral behaviors. Since personified Sin, with such power, familial connections, and overwhelming impact on humanity, it felt insulting that she would be just a brief mention in such an epic. I would say she is on her own side, not dependent on God or Satan for survival, but would clearly lean more towards evil in the biblical context. I thought it was interesting Milton puts a timeline to her creation; mentioning how she was born while still in Heaven and descending with the rest of Satan’s fallen angels. The rambling effect and self-righteous, repetitive, competitive tone felt appropriate to express the mad joy of her access to Earth. I had her inner monologue address those she would feel are the most likely to compare or judge, like Jesus, Eve, and God – but leaving it up to interpretation, furthering her chaotic and dramatic persona.
