Summary
Tony can't get himself back from Siberia, and it takes the night for him to be rescued. While waiting to see if he'll die of hypothermia, he realises something for the first time. It wasn't that he failed because he hadn't tried hard enough. He had failed because he had tried too hard. His so-called team-mates had formed the habit of blaming Tony for everything because he had let them. He had shouldered the blame, let them attack him without consequence, and cleaned up after their mess, all so they could continue to feel self-righteous in peace. But it wasn't just him they were attacking, and saving the world didn't give them a free pass to be the very bullies that Steve claimed to fight against.
Tony woke up in hospital, still sustained by the relief of his realisation. Things sucked, but they would get better. He was Tony Stark, and no challenge was too much for him. It was odd how much easier it was to plot when he actually did intend ways to manipulate the ex-Avengers into falling in line. And since that was what they seemed convinced he was doing all along, they didn't deserve a warning that it would now be true.

Summary
No species is all good or all evil. The tok'ra like to believe they are the "good" side of the onac race--the symbiotes who developed into the goa'uld. However, the tok'ra never mention Shamash or Samas, the ancient Sumerian god who was really one of the early queens. She (or really Samas prefers to be called a he) remembers the onac before the corruption of Ra, and he tried to lead his people back to a life in the water. He failed. However, thousands of years later, one gunnery sergeant on a suicide mission stumbled into a South American river, and Samas found he had another chance. The SGC and later Atlantis gave Samas a chance to save his people and make a few changes for the better in this universe. Samas once allowed Ra to take everything away from him. This time Samas is going to make sure his people are strong enough to stand up to any enemy. And to serve that end, he's going to make sure that those that he trusts--Tony, John, Rodney, Teyla, Ronon, Elizabeth, Major Teldy, Radek, Miko, Kyli and others--have the power to combat anyone who tries to take Atlantis from them.

a winding story i the power of introspection and things a person can learn about themselves i they are forced to stop and really look. it's beautiful because it has that irresistible mix of focused relationship building as well as a fast and compelling plot to keep it interesting and addictive. also i adore how this fic took the premise that smart is sexy and just ran with it.

i genuinely love this story. it's the first time i ever saw such a down t earth path to being hurt, and the achingly long and convoluted road to recovery that can result from it. this fic is about truth and redemption and pure, enduring devotion. that clark is also an alien and lex is a luthor hardly features at all despite the whole thing being based of one of the pivotal moments arising from both those facts.

dude this series is seriously fantastic. i am really disappointed with how limited my vocabulary is because i cannot find words to express just jow totally awesome this story was. i adored the way the clan had to built from the ground up, and i loved watching it and the people in it grow and change and learn new things about themselves while also kicking a prodigious amount of ass. these fics were thrilling to read, especially because i only have a vague and passing familiarity with either fandom and yet i was absolutely enthralled by the characters and the many facets that they showed as they developed and evolved whilst throughout all that was the plot that was always going on in the background. i am completely impressed with the balance of plot and character development. there was a lot of fast paced action but the characters were very well woven into the events with the emotional and psychological dilemmas and consequences accounted for every step of the way. it was a mammoth undertaking and you executed it brilliantly.
