Cole’s head hurts like hell and his mouth tastes like iron, and he’s busy tonguing his teeth to make sure they’re all still there when the door opens and some six-foot-something wall of muscle walks in, looking like no cop Cole’s ever seen before. He’s a hell of a lot scarier, for one, manages to radiate this lethal don’t fuck with me aura with a kind of ease Cole’s been trying to cultivate for a while now. He’s hotter too, and Cole was gonna try it anyway but that makes this a whole lot easier.
He eyes the guy up and down, smiles the lazy inviting smile that’s worked a handful of times before, and he manages not to wince when he feels a split in his lip open right back up. “Don’t normally like the taste of pig, but for you? I can make an exception. ’Specially if you get these off of me.” Cole shakes his wrists, and the handcuffs’ jingle sounds a lot like his spurs.
The guy just snorts at him then looks up at the corner of the room behind him, and Cole realizes there's probably a camera back there. “Someone get a mirror so I can show this kid what he looks like right now.”

So the good news is that I've figured out the vicious cycle here, which is that I keep thinking I only need to write one more story to give my Very Good Boy a good enough ending, and then in each subsequent story he's such a Ridiculously Good Boy that I end up needing to give him something more.
The bad news is that I don't know where this will end. With John Reese somehow not being a Catastrophically Good Boy? Signs point to no.
(I'm not gonna let him die heroically, though. That's the coward's way out of this dilemma, canon).
I 100% agree with this sentiment and thus chose to read this series despite the tags and was not let down. Sub!John Reese makes the world to round and devotion is still my kink. -

Summary
