Summary
Sent to investigate rumors of a lab doing human experimentation in the mountains, Reno and Rude find it in a bit of an unconventional way. Only problem is, they were never meant to end up inside of it. With Reno out of commission, it's up to Rude to get both of them out alive.
This isn't necessarily a shipping fic, but it's a slippery slope. The bromance is too strong later.
----------Apparently there was word of experiments going on, far away from any prying eyes. Experiments on people, enhancing them, sapping them of humanity to make them the perfect fighting machines; the accounts were endless it seemed.
Reno huffed out a breath and went to pull them back up when something flashed out of the corner of his eye.“Wha-”
That was all he managed to get out when something struck their helicopter, illuminating it in blinding blue. It was so fast, it was gone by the time he got his eyes open again, but his skin tingled with subtle remnants of the electricity. They were unscathed, but he couldn’t say the same for the panels.

Summary
Four years after Meteorfall, Rufus Shinra seemed to feel he had more or less successfully glossed over a lot of problematic decisions by his company. Shinra was still nowhere close to its old potential, held in check firmly by the presence of the more popular WRO. Few did not see the next announcement from Shinra as anything more than a naked PR move. Culture was coming back to the world – and Shinra wanted to held it arrive. There was a swiftly ignored press release about some new creative director the company had hired, but the first production was impossible to dismiss so easily. Loveless was being re-staged.
Shinra's new creative director is on a mission to keep on bringing back Loveless until it consumes the whole of pop-culture; Reno is not taking this lying down.

He makes an attempt at a sound effect that might be a building crumbling, or might be an approximation of radio static.
“Just you three livin’ here?” It is a small building - a matchbox of a home - which Rude doubts has more than a handful of rooms, inside.
“Nah, little brother ‘n two sisters, too.”
At that, Rude blinks.
He wouldn't have guessed that Reno had siblings at all. Let alone three.

Rude lifts a hand to his chin, fingers clenching it in thought.
Reno doesn’t wait for his thoughts on the matter, just leans across the table, teeth bared in a grin.
“You want to know what he likes~? I’ll give you a few hints. He’s from Wutai, he’s our boss, and his name is Tseng.”

Reno is understandably shaken after the fact and blames himself for the incident and for his and Rude's failure to complete the job, while Rude feels equally if not more at fault for failing to watch his partner's back as efficiently as he could have.
