Alastor regards him silently for a moment and Lucifer does his best not to squirm under the scrutiny. He fails almost immediately. He feels his face start to heat up and rushes to explain himself.
"Think about it. It will drive Vox crazy! Us sitting a little too close together on the couch, stuff that the others won't even notice..." Lucifer trails off into an awkward laugh, because Alastor isn't saying anything. If fact, he doesn't even seem to be breathing.

He could handle that.
Political games with potential enemies? He could do those in his sleep.His mate's supposed death?
The wave of attacks and opportunists that came in the aftermath?
The entire demon world suddenly clamoring for his hand now that his husband was dead?
Being pregnant at the same time all of this went down?He could adapt to that too, for the sake of his people and children, he had too.

“Macaque! Look at this!”
Macaque places the dishes down, turning to look at the little girl with white streaks through her hair.
"Wow! this is an amazing drawing" he says as he grouch's down to be at her height. Ba Hei grins happily as she points at the scribbles that Macaque makes out to be people.
"Thats you! then there's Rumble and Savage play fighting and Nezha is trying to stop them!" She points at each different squiggle as she speaks, she turns her eyes to him as they shine with delight.
"You like it?" she questions, Macaque smiles.
"I love it!" He picks up Ba Hei and twirls her around, she laughs with joy as Macaque brings her close to give her a hug.
Macaque loves it, the light feeling in his chest when he gets to hug his cubs.
And he'll do anything to keep it.

Summary
The Monkey King, Sun Wukong, has suffered punishment for 500 years for his part in the coup against the Jade Emperor. During this time his beloved warrior, mate, and queen Liu Er Mihou has managed the affairs of Flower Fruit Mountain, protected their subjects, and raised their child Xiaotian while waiting for Wukong to be freed.
When heaven finally frees Wukong from the mountain there is a condition to his freedom. He must first go on a pilgrimage with the monk Tang Sanzang. Should Wukong not comply the circlet on his head will subject him to lifelong pain and Flower Fruit Mountain will be burned again. With no other choice, he agrees so he can return home safely to his mate and child.
However, 14 years later, word spread far and wide that after the pilgrimage and on the return home, Wukong was killed in a sudden attack by heaven. Demon lords and other beings begin to circle Flower Fruit Mountain, Macaque, and the throne like vultures. However, even as time passes Macaque is still waiting. Because he doesn't believe for one second that stubborn as a rock Wukong would ever let himself die before returning home.

A red flash that stood out among the grayish dust and rocks, the powerful roar of some engines seemed to be the only thing Megatron was able to hear between the shots, and sparks produced by the clashes of metal. As fast as the gusts of wind produced by the thrusters of the imposing ships.
With the battle about to end, the quintessons retreat but those who stayed—or did not manage to escape—fall dead as that mysterious vibrating bot passes by them, destroying each remaining enemy in a macabre and bloody dance. He was so fast, so much so that many times he was lost from sight. Taking curves and turns that only an experienced flyer could make, and that Megatron might envy a little.
It's like a hurricane, he think.
Or 5 times Megatron witnessed Orion fly and one time he couldn't.

Like it or not, the shadow monkey was under his rule. And as his king, Sun Wukong couldn’t let him suffer through the season alone.
