Summary
Kai has always tried to be the big brother that Lloyd deserves. Ever since the Green Ninja lost his father, the Fire Ninja has tried to be there for him, to look out for him, and to do everything in his power to protect him no matter the cost. After all these years, he has never once wavered from this strong sense of purpose, which burns brightly like the fire within him. Never once had he faltered, never once had he hesitated to do or give up anything if it meant ensuring his youngest brother’s safety… except one time. For weeks, that one inexcusable moment of weakness and selfish want has haunted his dreams and tortured him in his waking moments. Never has he been able to forgive himself nor does he feel he ever will be. However, he may find that, after all this time, it was never himself from whom he needed to receive forgiveness. Only once he realizes this will Kai finally be able to find healing from the scars he’s inflicted upon himself and rekindle his old fire… and his friendship.

Summary
The tears didn’t fall. The building sob didn’t echo through his room. The awful chaotic mess of invisible feelings pressed against him from the inside out but it was almost as though he didn’t know how to set it free anymore. So he tried to escape them instead.
He pushed them as far as he could into the deepest recesses of his mind, deeper even than the void they’d collected and risen from, and ran in the other direction.
Lloyd dies, survives, and moves on with his life. And then it all comes crashing down on him.
