Tommy has had so many other distractions to keep him from thinking too closely, or understanding, and yet looking now there are so many similarities that he can’t quite get his head around—
“What is it that makes him so different?” Tommy asks, and then again, although this time in a language that the others can understand. They’re all watching him closely, but before Tommy can reflexively apologise, he realises they’re not concerned, but curious. Assang tilts their head, Foruwua pops their lips and Lulah leans forward from her perch, catching Tommy’s eye.
“What do you know of the Blood God?” she asks , the question seemingly out of nowhere, like a distraction rather than an answer, but the steel in her amber eyes tells Tommy otherwise.

Scar doesn’t even try to hide the surprise and confusion in his words. Staring at Cub with both eyebrows raised to his hairline.
“I thought hybrid zoos were deemed too dangerous for the public.” Scar waves a hand over in the vague direction of the zoo exhibits they do have. “Not to mention we were never intended to be that kind of zoo, why us?”
Scar was just a humble zookeeper, he wasn't prepared to deal with this pesky bird that seems much more intelligent than everyone says he should be, but he isn't one to turn down an animal in need. Grian is just happy to be somewhere where he can lay on something soft, even if the humans are weird at this facility. Especially that scarred one.

“This isn’t the first time I’ve been trapped aboard a strange ship,” he says almost idly, a smile beginning to warm his face as he compares this awful experience with his extended imprisonment aboard Xsdí’s ship, and while the memories aren’t exactly fond, he can find some sense of amusement in the fact that he’s a prisoner once more, feral like a leashed wolf that bites and tears at its restraints.
“You think I’d be better at this by now,” he half-laughs, trying to outrun the suffocating feeling cloying at his throat, the dryness in his mouth, the taste of vomit and bile that reminds him too closely of pod food and the near-untethered thoughts of sharp teeth and the soft flesh of his wrists. Nook’s metal, cold, pressed against his forehead is a good anchor, even if the sharp edge of twisted metal threatens to break his skin.
Or: The Humans want answers. Tommy isn’t sticking around to give them.

Summary
Ever since Tommy was brought back as a god, his worries about hurting the ones he loved have only escalated. His god form is easily managed: explosions sent off from minor arguments with other kids at school, earthquakes when Wilbur admits he finished off the Donuts in the pantry, and all around destruction from feelings Tommy can not control.
His guilt is at an overall high. Then, Tommy fails the test Techno spent all night tutoring him for, and he tips over the peak.
In which Tommy is getting used to being loved for the first time AND handling new god powers. Spoiler Alert: he does a shit job at handling both.

Summary
“I am Prince Theseus’s guard.”
Tommy’s looks like Tubbo’s told a joke. The uniform was enough for everyone else but Tommy doesn’t believe him. Or he’s smiling for another reason.
“I’m sure you’ve heard, but Prince Theseus doesn’t think highly of being guarded,” he says, amused. Tubbo can’t see the humour, but he’s also certain that he’d get in trouble for turning his back on the lordling, having surmised that Tommy is not quite royalty, but still high in status—certainly higher than Sam or Dream or any of the knights that would step in to defend Tubbo’s actions.
“He doesn’t see the point, when he’s trapped in the castle as it is,” Tommy continues; “being guarded is worse. They’re all stiff, proper and fucking bootlickers to the old man, but if you want, I can put in a good word for you.”
Tubbo’s scepticism must show on his face because Tommy pouts playfully. “What? Don’t you trust me?”
“I don’t know you,” Tubbo says before he can think about it.Curse his unruly mouth. Mother told him he didn’t often think before his spoke and now he’s being rude to a lordling because of it.
Or: Tubbo is Prince Theseus's new guard. Except he can't find him.

Dream leads his team, sparing no one and no time for anything but a healing potion where a sword broke through their defence, or a knife slashed in a last ditch attempt to take one of the knights down with him.
Beside him Sam fights with years of training and sparring behind him. He can tell that, on some level, Sam detests this, watching him wince as a soldier lopes towards him, only dressed in half armour, but he’s unrelenting regardless, charging with a raised shield to knock others off balance—toppling men that are gathered too close to one another and raising his sword to pierce their stomachs and swallow their screams.Skeppy looks like he’s having fun as he dances with twin blades; flourishing with spins and jumps and a wild laugh that bounced off the blood-stained walls; but there’s a grim determination in his eyes and his display is as much a mask as the wooden smile that Dream wears; an intimidation tactic as much as a distraction as he spills blood, topples bodies, takes revenge for those they’ve already rescued and those that wait below.
Or: George’s Knights find a child, and yet so much more.

Wilbur loves and adores his family.
It’s a firm certainty.
An unchangeable truth.Techno is intelligent, he’s kind and understanding and blissfully quiet. Dad is a cornerstone of support that will never move, never leave, never turn his back.
Tommy is far more observant than what he allows people to see because of his past: knows when Dad listens to the voice of the wind and desires quiet to hear her better; knows when Techno is training to quieten the voices; knows when Wilbur's gone past the point of amusement and the guitar has become a shackle that Tommy will distract him from before he’s trapped in his room for a week.Tommy knows what his family needs and when, and they all love him for it; how he fits the space in their family they didn’t even realise was empty until he came along, a little bruised, a little battered and more than a little terrified of the world around him, but with a heart so big and a love so pure they couldn’t imagine the valley returning to the quiet it had been before.
Of course Wilbur loves him.
But so too comes an emotion in his chest that is wreathed in spikes; a knot of bleeding thorns that are drenched in something dark that he will not name.

Summary
“Fucking—let—me—go!” he snarls, wrapping both hands around the length of the rope, painfully aware of the laughter ringing through the trees; the sounds of feet crashing through bracken; and Tommy—he doesn’t understand why the rope isn’t burning, why the frayed strands aren’t catching—it’s just a length of rope used for hunting, its not important enough to be enchanted, no one would waste coin enchanting rope to make it fireproof when it’s only use is to be part of a snare and nothing more.
The voices are getting louder and Tommy is running out of time.
There’s a trail of smoke where something just barely catches alight and Tommy doesn’t bother with a cry of victory—not when he’s not free, not when he’s still suspended up in the air, dangling by his foot, trying to burn through his shoe so that he can gain favour towards escape or free his knife—“Oh my god Techno, your snare caught a child!”
Or: Tommy is running from his past, and finds family along the way.

His hands go to the little metal clips; quick and precise in their movements as he helps shift the heavy netherite plating before turning to his own coat buttons. They’re skewed and misaligned; Ranboo watching quietly as Tubbo’s fingers slip, like they’re frostbitten; his bottom lip pinched between his teeth; brow furrowed—
“Here. Let me.”
Ranboo keeps his voice as gentle as the lambent firelight, hands up in mock surrender where Tubbo’s stiffen against his mis-matched buttons, giving a stiff nod and dropping his hands so that Ranboo’s can replace them. His chin is pointed down and his fringe covers his face, but the tell-tale hiss of burning skin gives away the tears.
This is simply an excuse to write about the Beeboo Duo and their son.

Plants revolved around two constants: the sun and the moon. Its bright rays and control of water tides.
Tommy, with his newfound second chance of life, had these constants. Though, the sun left him burnt and the moon thirsty. It wasn't enough for the plants inside of him to properly grow.
It only took two boys, one that gleamed the same rays and another who reflected a cool midnight sky, for Tommy to finally bloom.
