“Alright mate,” the stranger sighs, stretching his arm dangerously closer to Techno, “regardless, we have to get you out of there, okay? It's not safe.”
His back aches when it collides with the wall from how fast he kicks his legs in front of him. The impact pulls another wheeze from Techno, but the boy could care less. Anything to delay the inevitable is appreciated.
Even if he has to deal with stone cutting into his sides and snagging onto loose pieces of clothes.
“Hold on,” he chokes, reorienting himself, “I’m—I’m human.” Ignoring the blurring in his vision and the wet streams rolling down his face, he whispers, “You can’t hurt me.”
Silence follows the statement, the only thing left audible is Techno’s sniffling.

"History loves tragedies after all.” That was the one theme that followed each and every scrap of history that Techno had managed to find, the legend of L’Manburg that now barely survived in the present age. The constant pull of the hopeless fight and the grand story of humanity fighting the undead only for it to be buried in a shallow grave, because despite all the pretty words, L’Manburg had lost in the end.
“...Huh, a tragedy? That’s what they call it?”
“That’s what it is.”
“Well, what I think is that-”Techno never saw the air move or the flicker of shadows that curled forwards, simply one second the boy stood by the purple glow of the stained moonlight-
And the next he stood before Techno and the dull blue gleam of his eyes had instead turned into a bright, blazing blue despite the shadows that still clung viciously from the hood’s veil across his face.“-it died, and that was it, alive one second and dead the next.”

The angry mer pup stuck in the infirmary that wouldn’t eat. It’s all Techno seemed to hear about these days, the facility and its human inhabitants seemingly growing more vexed for every day that passed without the pup eating.
Techno didn’t understand the fuss. If the pup wouldn’t eat, and wouldn't bond to any of the adult mers housed in the facility, it would die. That's just nature.
“One sardine, Techno, that’s all I ask.” Philza begged.

Techno swallowed, chin tipped up to avoid the blade at his neck. The Angel stood firm, but the sickly pallor to his cheeks and hitch in his breath betrayed him. He’d been hurt this time. Badly. His robes hid most of him, but The Angel seemed to favor his left side, pressing a hand to it under his robes, wincing occasionally when he had to hitch in another breath. Blood dripped to the floor in a steady drip…drip…drip, darkening the floor beneath him.
In the moonlight, The Angel looked almost ghost-like, the sheen of sweat on his brow shimmering just as his eyes darkened in concentration. His wings shifted occasionally behind him, broken feathers fluttering to the ground at every twitch.
“Look—“
“Shut up,” The Angel growled. Techno shut his mouth with a click. The Angel's hand shifted, not the one with the sword. That one stayed steady, pulling away from his body slightly. His palm came away red, almost black in the darkness. He grunted, teeth grinding, and pressed against the wound again.
“I need someone to patch me up, now,” The Angel grunted. his blade still stayed at Techno’s neck, perfectly still. Controlled. “You seem to have volunteered.”

Summary
It’s not the first time a scared kid has run to a Hero and insisted on staying with them, saying they’re the only one who can keep them safe. Hell, it’s not even the first time it’s happened to Techno.
But there’s something different about this one. He’s sharper, a bit too knowing of what’s going on around him despite his age.
Tommy is a different case but Techno’s duty is just the same: Protect the kid. Above all else, protect the kid.
Every other Hero would do the same. So why are Phil and Wilbur acting like Techno is doing anything other than his job?
(Or, a scared kid named Tommy only seems to trust Techno to protect him. That would be fine if Techno wasn’t suddenly getting overprotective over a kid he just met, neglecting his duties, relationships, and experiencing a sudden personality shift...)

“I wouldn’t go that far. I’ve got Phil, and Ranboo…” Techno muttered, lips turning up sadly at the mention of the two names. Even locked in the cell and armorless, he looked intimidating as he sat up and looked over. Suddenly, those eyes zone on Dream, and the green-eyed man shivered. “On the other hand… I’d say I’m your only friend, aren’t I?”In which Dream, who has been convinced up to then that everyone was just a piece on a board, realizes that for the first time- there might be someone who understands him. Someone who cares for him. Someone beyond just thirsting after his power or trembling in fear and trying to please him. After his jailbreak, a small obsession is rooted, and Dream goes through hell to ensure that this time- everything goes his way.
