Summary
Katara had been so sure of her plan to liberate the prison rig. How was she to know how efficiently the guards would respond to an uprising? Zuko had been positive that his best course of action was to travel separate from his Uncle. What else was he supposed to do when he came across a person from his past? Sometimes, through all the doubt, two people collide. Eventual Zutara.
This is both a Canon Related and Canon Divergent, reimagined ATLA story. Katara joins Zuko in his journey of self-discovery across the Earth Kingdom as personalities clash and beliefs are questioned. Familiar allies and enemies await them along the way.
Ripple effects of having Katara absent from the majority of 'Book 1: Water,' are seen once Katara and Zuko meet up with the Gaang later on in the story. 'Book 1: Water' occurs mainly in the flashbacks of this story as Chapter 1 picks up close to the start of 'Book 2: Earth.'
The most recent chapters explore the aftermath of the conclusion of the Hundred Year War.

Since finding Katara at the brink of her life, Iroh has been unable to let her go to fend for herself in this world alone. So, instead he raises her in the fire nation's capital. Maybe this could be his way of righting his wrongs.

Summary
Zuko loathes the man up on the Fire Lord's throne. Who burned him and looked down upon him. Whatever happens, he will not end up like him. He refuses to become a mad man, a horrible tyrant that Ozai is, and despises how he had driven his mother away due to paranoia and obsessiveness. Zuko won't become the person his mother feared him to be.
But then... Katara arrives. His precious, lovely soulmate. An enemy of their kingdom, a girl who comes from a dying tribe. Someone who he's willing to burn the world for just as his father had done countless times for Ursa.
He prays for his mother's forgiveness, even if that won't do as much good. They're the same after all.
Zuko's his father's child.

Three years passed between the Avatar being found and the fall of Ba Sing Se. Aang was fifteen years old when Princess Azula struck him down in the Crystal Caves. Taking his body - Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Suki escaped to the Northern Water Tribe where they started the long process of recovery.
In an act of desperation, Chief Arnook made a treaty with Fire Lord Ozai. A marriage between a Prince and Princess, which guaranteed safety for the Water Tribe, and security and for the Fire Nation - as Ozai didn't believe that the Avatar was truly dead. But he wouldn't lay waste to the Fire Nation and risk hurting his friend.

“Everything,” he whispered, his raspy voice breaking.When Zuko is banished from the Fire Nation, his Uncle Iroh takes him to the Sun Warriors to heal and hide from his father's wrath. Meanwhile, the remnants of the Southern Water Tribe get washed into the Foggy Swamp on their way to join their sister-nation in the North Pole and are taken in by the tribe of waterbenders there. The Avatar returns a hundred years after disappearing to unravel all of their destinies.
