Tommy has been illegally drag racing with his friends Tubbo, Ranboo, Quackity for quite some time now, and he’s damn good at it. It’s one of the only things Tommy feels like he does right, and clearly he’s got to be good because he keeps winning the money. If it hadn’t been for the fact that His older brother Techno was in college most of the time and Wilbur hadn’t been so heavily in his academics he probably would have been caught a LONG time ago. When he gets the proposition to race Dream, the only other man who he had a competitive streak with, Dream decides to play dirty to win.
Now Tommy’s brothers knows his secret, and he’s not pleased one bit about it.

The sirens ring out, and his stomach splashes into his gut.
Tommy’s not doing this shit. Not again. He can’t. He can’t deal.
He’s supposed to bunker down, like Tubbo is doing, dig himself into the earth, sit crouched in some horrible claustrophobic-confined obsidian box and wait, breathing stale air, for the monster to come and kill him. ‘Cause he will, eventually. Nowhere’s safe.
So he’s willing to fight, again. Die, if he has to. Come back, if he’s gotta. What he can’t stand is the waiting, the horrible helpless choking anticipation, the miserable crush of fear and dread. If he has to face Dream (the idea nauseates and electrifies him), if he has to get hurt, he’d rather just get it over with.

He concentrates, and summons into his hand the First Decree. “No fireworks,” he reads unsteadily, “No armor worn inside city limits. Honor democracy. Hold an election in seventy days time.” He looks up at Wilbur and bites his tongue. “Is this what you would have wanted? Are you proud of me?”
The dead man just sighs and shakes his head. “Your country was never even supposed to exist. How do you still not get that?”He thinks he can conjure up a time when his friend was not so sullen and sad. “Remember your Declaration of Independance?” He gives Wilbur a thin leaflet. “‘Suck it, Green booooiiii,’ y’know?”
His hands crumple the old document, and his face is sallow, embittered. “Green boy won.”
“Not yet,” Tubbo says cautiously, “Because Tommy’s still out there, right? Still fighting?”
